“Let’s do it,” I said.
We high-fived and returned to the game with renewed energy and a purpose.
The start of the second half was pretty much like the first. I lost my footing twice, ending up on the grass with a scoffed knee and a rapidly growing bruise.
Ellie shouted from her position as our goalie, and Meatball tried his best, but with me aiding him on the defense, a dream team we were not.
In a pivotal moment, Lior, our team’s unofficial captain, intercepted a pass intended for Emery. With a quick glance, hefound River open on the left. The pass was perfect, and Lior, with a burst of speed, broke away from his marker.
I held my breath. He was going to score. I just knew it. Lior made his move, sending a powerful shot toward the net.
Harrison, the red team’s goalkeeper, leaped with an outstretched hand, but the ball was just beyond his reach. It hit the back of the net with a satisfying thud.
Everyone cheered. Our team came together in a group hug.
Our young referees went to their parents. From the gesticulating, I couldn’t be sure if they were telling Harrison and Fletcher to do better or trying to comfort them.
Those kids were adorable. The last time I’d seen Harrison, Megan was only three, and they were still living in Boston. So much had changed since.
The game resumed, but the score remained the same. When our referees whistled the end of my torture, we all gathered to celebrate the win for our chosen charity. In the end, with everyone’s matched donations, we decided to split the money between the Star Finders Youth Network and the Chester Falls Animal Sanctuary.
Adam clapped me on the back, “That was one hell of a game. We’ll get you next time,” he said with a smile that reached his eyes.
I returned the gesture. “Looking forward to it, little bro. You guys gave us a run for our money.”
“Meh, we underestimated Lior. Are you sure he’s in his forties?”
The Noah my brothers knew would have made a crude joke, but after everything that had happened this morning, I was just thankful my brother seemed to have gotten over the shock. Shame that the same couldn’t be said for his bride.
“Hey, is everything okay with Victoria? I will apologize as soon as I can have a moment with her.”
“I appreciate that. Sports aren’t her thing, but she knew with so many guys around, she needed to get us to expend some energy. I sure could do with a nap now.”
“Same, dude. Same.”
I was relieved that Adam seemed to be a little calmer about things. I met Lior’s gaze and gave him an imperceptible nod. Would he be disappointed to know how quickly I’d put the things I’d heard from my brother behind me?
Did it make me weak? I hated fighting with my brothers, and even through the hurt feelings, I couldn’t blame Adam. I was the one who lied. About everything.
While we’d been playing the second half of the game, the hotel staff had put together a table with light snacks.
We filled up and rehydrated before, one by one, everyone retreated to their rooms.
When we got to our room, Lior practically dragged me to the bathroom, ripping my sweaty clothes off.
“I love it when my husband goes all caveman on me.”
He pushed me against the shower wall. The cold tiles made me hiss.
“I love it when you call me husband.” His deep gravelly voice went straight to my dick.
“Is that so…husband?” I ran my hands up his chest, feeling the hairs under my fingers. Lior was the fucking sexiest man I’d ever seen.
His nipples peaked under my touch. His breath caught and his eyes darkened. He licked his lips and sank to his knees.
As he engulfed my dick in his mouth, hollowing his cheeks as he sucked me to the back of his throat, my mind went blank.
All I could do was stand there and take it. I spilled into Lior’s throat a moment later.
