“Should we tell them?” Scotty whispered to me.
I whispered back, “I’m not sure. They’ve always encouraged me to make mistakes, because that was the best way to learn about life. Maybe it’s only fair that I extend the same courtesy to them.”
We shared another laugh, an Amber and Scotty connection that I now got to enjoy forever.
“Uh-oh . . .” I looked wide-eyed at the security guard who had entered the room and was walking toward us. “Something happened.”
“Hopefully, it’s good news, not bad,” Scotty said.
“Sorry to interrupt your special day,” the security guard said. “I just wanted to let you know you won’t have to worry about your cousin bothering you. She caused quite the ruckus in the lobby earlier and was arrested for kicking an employee. They also found out she had over a hundred unpaid parking tickets.”
“Holy smokes,” Scotty said. “Thank you for letting us know.”
“But wait—there’s more.” He laughed as he held his phone in our direction. “This video is going viral.”
Maggoty Mercedes was handcuffed and being led out of the hotel by two police officers. “Uncuff me this instant and I will give you both ten thousand dollars!”
“That added bribery to her charges,” the security guard said. “She’s as sharp as a marble.”
I leaned closer to the phone. “What on earth is that dragging from her shoe?”
He snorted. “Toilet paper.”
We were still laughing after the security guard left the room.
Scotty turned to me. “Do you believe in Karma?”
I smiled. “I most certainly do.”
He grinned. “Well then, it’s a good thing you married me or the Universe would have been very unhappy with you.”
I smirked. “You mean it’s a good thingyoumarriedme.”
That sass earned me a delicious kiss.
What an amazing night this had been.
Scotty wrapped his arms around me. “I love you, Lois.”
“I love you too, Clark,” I said, pulling him closer. “I really think the only thing that could have made the ceremony better was if you were still wearing theSupermanoutfit.”
Scotty shook his head at me. “You really do underestimate me sometimes, Lois.” He unbuttoned the top of his shirt, revealing the giant S on hisSupermanshirt underneath. “What do you have to say about that?”
I gave him a hug and kissed him. “My hero.”
