Page 7 of The Baby Contract

My feet felt like they were cemented on the cold, clinic floor.

As I stared at Millie, her face was stained with fresh tears, horrified, scared, and hurt as she lay on the bed soaked in her own blood.

My wolf was running in circles, pacing, panicking, whining, his tail between his legs as he pushed his nose against my chest, trying to get me to step forward.

I didn't know what to do. So, I ran.

My wolf nudged me again, pushing his cold, wet nose against my chest again, trying to get me to run back to Millie's room, protesting every step we took away from it. I tensed, not knowing what my wolf wanted me to do. I had hurt Millie, and he wanted me to stay and get close to her?

His unruliness turned to fury, as he clawed my chest harder with each step we took down the stairs. My head pounded at his actions. My eyes blurred as he fought me for power, making it known that he was pissed with what I had done.

"Fuck!" I grabbed my head as it throbbed, throwing myself out the door. "Fucking stop, you stupid wolf!"

He growled, continuing his actions. I stumbled out to the forest as he fought me for power, which made my whole body throb in pain, starting from my feet and rising to my head. I could feel fur grow from my skin, a sign that he was desperate to take over my body.

He took control of my legs, but instead of running back towards the house, he ran towards the forest, where he went a few nights ago to the rose garden. When he got there, he dropped to his knees abruptly, as if he was desperate to catch this scent.

At the smell of the rose, I lost control, and he took over my body, shifting quickly.

As soon as he shifted, he ran through the garden as if he was on a mission.

He sniffed each rose urgently, picking the ones he liked and collecting them in a big pile.

He paced for a while, picking only the roses he thought were perfect, and making a huge bouquet.

After he did so, he whined, picking the bouquet up, which was now hundreds of roses large, in his mouth, and carrying it proudly to a rock where he set it down gently.

When he was done, he laid down with his snout on top of the rose bouquet he made, shifting the power back to me to take my human form.

When I shifted back to my human form, he whined, imagining the roses in my arms before pacing in circles and lying back down. "That's all you wanted to do?" I scoffed, looking down at the bouquet he made. "Pick flowers?"

I rolled my eyes, sitting down on a rock, with my face in my hands. My wolf was just acting erratic, but I didn't need to feel bad. It's just a contract. It's a part of the deal. She just happened to be a virgin.

My heart stung at that thought, images of Millie's blood-stained sheets running through my mind. Her tear-stained cheeks, her distressed face, how vulnerable she looked....

My wolf cried, putting his paws over his eyes. I remember when Ember lost her virginity to me, it wasn't like that at all, she was excited, she was comfortable, and of course, she was in pain, but she wasn't scared or bloody like Millie was.

She talked to me the whole time, she looked me in the eyes, she held my hand. I asked her if she was okay. She told me to slow down or stop. We stayed in bed after and curled up together, soaking up each other' scents while we kissed and said I love you.

I didn't need to think about Ember. Millie wasn't Ember, and she never would be. Millie wasn't anything to me. She wasn't even my pack member. She was just a necessity to get my heir.

But, I still hurt her. And, that bothered me. It bothered my stupid wolf deeply.

"There you are! I've been looking everywhere for you fucking ass!" Boris stomped up behind me, his steps fast. "I looked everywhere for you-I went to your dungeon, or what you like to call your office-"he exasperated from behind me.

"But, surprisingly, you weren't there for once." He scoffed. "So, I checked your suite, you weren't there. The training grounds, where you should have been at noon, and I didn't even check the pack commons because I knew your miserable ass wouldn't be socializing."

Boris came up behind me, but I didn't even bother to turn around. I could feel his wolf's paws beating fast inside of him, raging in pure anger.

A blunt shock hit me in the back of the head, throwing me off the rock from the force. "And, finally I find you, of all places, in a-" he looked around. "fucking garden for goddess sake?" He thro his hands up.

I blinked, my vision blurry from his hit. As I stood, Boris punched me in the nose, knocking me into a tree. "Not even blocking my hits, Alpha?" He punched me again, this time, in my jaw, making it crack.

"Come on, you seem to want to hurt, Millie." His face bubbled up in anger, his wolf howling in agreement. "So, why don't you fight me instead? You ass fuck."

Boris kicked me in the face, but I didn't bother to block it, instead, I just accepted it.

"You hate her so much that you just want to hurt her in every way possible, huh?

" He kicked me again. "Why? Because she was dirty and bloody the first time you met her?

Because she's a maid? Because she's from the Eclipse pack?

She just wasn't up to your big, bad Alpha standards, huh? "

I brought my hand up to my nose, catching the fresh blood as it fell onto the grass.

"I saw what you did. And, I felt Millie's pain even though she didn't want to show it.

She was trying to be strong and keep it inside.

But, I saw the bed sheets. I saw her eyes.

I felt the pain in her heart, and you should have too if you were any kind of kind, caring, Alpha. "

Boris stepped back, seeming to have enough with his attacks, instead, he stared at me as he shook his head in disgust. "You should be ashamed.

I know you miss Ember. We all do, but you have been an asshole not only to Millie but to all of us for the past five years.

" He sighed. "Me, your sister, your father, mother, the pack. You're not Theo, our Alpha anymore."

Boris looked up at the sky, running his hands down his face, seeming to be deep in thought about something. He closed his eyes, and took a deep breath, regaining his composure, before focusing back on me.

"Look-"he clenched his fists, holding back another punch. "I don't know what you're problem is with Millie. But, it's obvious that you can't stand being around her."

He stopped, cracking his neck in anger before continuing. "So, as your beta, I will make the decision that is best for you, as well as the future Alpha of this pack." He said, his voice serious.

"I will take care of Millie's needs while she's at Stormblade." He announced. "I will make sure that Millie has the baby and carries out your contract." He came close, getting down on one knee to look me in the eyes. "You will stay away from her."

"No-" I growled, my wolf and I waking up. "Absolutely not."

Boris shook his head, as he clenched his jaw. "This is not up for debate, Alpha. It's obvious that you can't stand being around Millie, so let me take care of it." He snapped.

A pang of jealousy rang through my chest at this proposition. "It's my pup, not yours. You have no right to tell me to stay away." I snarled, my chest rumbling at the thought.

"You will get your pup in nine months-" Boris snapped. "But before that, you stay out of it. I'll give you updates from the doctor on the pregnancy and I'll make sure everything is going fine, and if it's not, I'll tell you, but I can handle it."

"Listen-"Boris commanded. "You still have to see Millie a few more times until she gets pregnant. And, then that's it. For those times, you better be on your best behavior with her, or next time, I swear I'll really kill you."

I frowned, my wolf imagining the flowers again with the mention of Millie's name. "I wasn't trying to hurt her," I whispered, shaking my head sadly.

"Yeah, sure-"Boris rolled his eyes sarcastically. "I think anyone who knows someone's a virgin would be a little more caring than that. You could have at least taken it slower or offered her some comfort. You were just like an animal." He spat in disgust.

"And, it doesn't matter now. It's over." Boris stood, looking down at me. "And, if it was up to me, I wouldn't have you see Millie ever again. But, we got to do what we have to do."

Boris sighed, wiping the dirt from his knees before turning away. "Just be decent, or the most you can be when you have sex again." He scowled. "I swear to goddess, if I hear one cry from Millie, I'm coming in."

My heart twitched at his words as he spun, stepping over the bouquet of roses and running back to the pack house. My wolf cried loudly, sad at his Beta's words. I had never seen Boris so angry, especially at me.

I stood, wiping my bloody nose with the back of my hand. My wolf led me to the roses, picking one up and sniffing it to calm himself down. He took pride in his freshly picked bouquet.
