Page 36 of The Baby Contract

My moans had turned to ones of desperation as Alpha Stormblade tortured me with the intense pleasure of his canines against my neck. He used his hand to keep my neck exposed, giving himself the best access to nibble on my skin.

My body melted like butter against him when he did this. My legs became weak along with every muscle in my body as I gave in to the pleasure he made me feel.

Alpha was obviously skilled at this. He knew exactly where he would put a mark on his mate. I struggled to open my eyes as the shocks ran through my body like an erupting volcano.

I spotted Alpha's old marks, Ember's canines engraved into his skin like a tattoo. A picture of a wolf howling at the moon formed as a scar, a symbol of Ember's unique design permanent on his skin.

"Alpha-"I struggled against him again, this time my words coming out somewhat coherent. "We can't do this."

"We were made for each other, baby girl," He mumbled, closing the distance I had put between us. "You love the feeling of my canines across your skin," he purred seductively, "and I will love the feeling of yours buried deep in my neck as you claim your rightful mate and Alpha."

My body shuddered at the thought of claiming someone like Alpha Stormblade. He was larger than any other wolf I had seen, and I was just a fraction of his size. I imagined how silly it would look as I stood on my toes to reach his neck to mark him.

Alpha Stormblade seemed to be turned on by this thought, his hard manhood creeping up to poke me in the stomach. His muscles tensed around me, trapping me in his heated embrace.

Just let him claim you.

He will protect you. He will protect his babies.

My thoughts ran wild as he trailed my skin with pleasurable bites, preparing to lay his mark. He will save you from Eclipse. He's your mate, he will rescue you. You can stay here, safe, fed, taken care of.

My eyes lingered down to my journal, which lay beside us on a bedside table. When Orion told me I would be coming here, I remembered the hope I felt when I assumed I was being traded to the Stormblade pack.

Then, I found out the truth, that I was sold to Alpha Stormblade to have his pups in return for Eclipse to have the money they could have never dreamed of.

I held onto a small hope that maybe, just maybe, Jasper would come to his senses, realize that this was a mistake, and be able to convince his father that this was a bad idea.

I remembered how Alpha Stormblade treated me when I came to his pack, how he insulted my appearance, the appearance of a wolf who would do anything to make sure her pack mates' bellies stayed full, knowing she would no longer be there to protect them.

Alpha Stormblade despised our differences. He despised me so much that he tried to discard me after he completed the job, just like any other task, and forget about it.

Alpha Stormblade was a man who lived in the lap of luxury. He had a maid at the snap of his fingers, the riches to sustain multiple houses and rows of fancy cars. He didn't have time to even look to the poor maid beneath him.

He was the opposite of me, and I was the complete opposite of him.

My pack relied on me. Even though I was a maid like them, they looked to me for help, knowing that I was the only one with the strength to endure the endless beatings so that we could eat another day.

They needed me. Nova needed me.

I took in a shaky breath as I pushed him again, this time with determination and purpose. Alpha Stormblade growled, going back to the spot he was working on at the nape of my neck.

"Stop- "I pushed him again. "I don't want this."

Alpha seemed to snap at my words, his body stiffening as he held himself back. "Once you bear my mark, you will no longer wonder if I want you; the bond will reassure you, where it would be painful to even think about us not being together in such a way."

"No- "I slipped out of his grip. "You think you want this, but you don't. I'm sure you are just confused by my scent."

Alpha slammed his fist on the wall, making the pictures on the wall shake. His face looked red and pained as he fought his wolf.

"Damn it!" he pressed his head painfully against the wall where I once was. "Fuck, Millie!"

I watched with wide eyes as Alpha tensed, obviously holding himself back. "You are my Luna, Millie Rose." He shivered. "And I will claim you."

I took a shaky step back as he pounded his fist on the wall again, this time a picture falling hard on the floor, shattering the glass frame.

"You are mine," his eyes snapped up, his pitch-black eyes meeting my wary ones. "And I won't let you slip away from me like Ember did. You will be the Luna of this pack, Millie."

I backed up wearily in response to the slow steps he was taking towards me. "You don't know what you want, Alpha," I said bravely, pushing down my shaking voice. "A mark on my skin would be deadly for you."

"Deadly?" He stopped, his eyes shifting colors. "I am one of the most powerful wolves in this whole Kingdom, nothing will kill me, baby girl."

I shook my head. "No, Alpha. You are wrong." I stepped back again. "You won't survive this. You won't survive it again."

You won't survive losing another mate.

"Survive what, again?" He tensed, his eyes shifting rapidly. "You are making me worried, mate. My wolf is going insane at your words, they don't make sense to us."

His eyes broke away from mine, this time in sheer panic. "Whatever your apprehensions are about our mating- "he continued. "I will prove them wrong."

"And I can prove them wrong while you bare my mark."

I opened my mouth to respond, but before I could, I felt something stirring inside of me. A new feeling crept up inside my veins.

"What happened?" Alpha's eyes widened as he grabbed my arm. "Are you getting sick again?"

As soon as he touched me, I felt it for the first time. My babies' little feet.

I felt my babies' first kicks hard against my ribs, taking the breath out of my lungs. "Millie- "

"The babies just kicked." I breathed out in awe. It was the first time I felt them active. My veins lit up in a warm fuzzy feeling mixed with the nausea that they were stirring up inside of me.

Alpha's eyes widened as he focused in on my stomach. His face went from red to glowing, his whole body lighting up in pure happiness. He rested his hand next to mine on my swollen bump, the babies kicking again in the spot where he laid his hand.

"They know me," he glowed, his lips curing into a big smile. "They know their daddy."

The moment made me swell with heartbreak and joy. The babies responded immediately to his touch, recognizing him.

"Alpha!" Boris pounded on the door, catching his breath.

Boris didn't give much time before he opened the door, his eyes widening at the sight in front of him. "Oh- "he breathed. "I'm sorry to barge in on your private moment."

My eyes prickled with tears as I studied Boris' face, laced with concern and care, just like the first day I met him. He had never changed, never faltered.

It made sense why Boris had been so protective of me since I had come to Stormblade. He knew deep inside that I was his Luna. He was my natural guard and protector.

"I, uh-"he stumbled, taken aback by my tears. "I didn't mean to make you upset, Lu-"he stopped. "Millie."

Alpha growled at Boris slightly for ruining the moment. "What is it?" He asked Boris, holding claim over my tummy.

"I need to talk to you outside for a moment." He cleared his throat roughly, his eyes flickering between the both of us. "It's urgent."

I looked between the both of them as they exchanged looks, their eyes shifting between their human and wolves as they did so. Boris must have been communicating something to him.

"Fuck- "Alpha seethed under his breath, tensing at their silent exchange. He stroked my cheek gently, his hand warm against my skin. "I have to go, my love."

"Is everything okay?" I gulped anxiously.

Boris bit his lip, not wanting to overstep his Alpha. They exchanged looks again, making my heart race at the silence in the air. It was eerie.

"It's late. I will send my mom in to help you with the bath and get you in bed," Alpha finally said, looking at his watch. "I will be back later tonight."

Alpha stepped away painfully, never taking his eyes off me as he and Boris abruptly left the room.

Luna Kate came in a second later, opening the door with a bright smile on her face. That was quick, I thought. I guess he didn't want to be left alone for long.

"Hi, my dear," she engulfed me in a big hug. "How are you feeling? Theo said you felt the babies' kick."

The word seemed to spread quickly in this family.

My mind was still stuck on the situation between Alpha and Boris, leaving a silence between us. "You know- "Luna Kate wrapped he arm around my shoulders, leading me to the bathroom. "I was quite sick when I was pregnant with Theo, but when I had Aspen, it was much easier- "

Luna Kate trailed on, her words becoming a blur as she yapped on. "When are you coming to family dinner again?" she leaned over, pushing the plug in the bathtub before starting the water. "We need to start planning a baby shower, oh and- "

"Maybe getting together for some ideas for the nursery?" she blabbed on. "We should find out the gender of the babies soon. What gender do you think they are?"

"You know, it's an urban myth that if you feel more nauseous, it's a boy, and if you feel more tired, it's a girl- "

Was Luna Kate nervous or something? Why was she rambling like this?

"Luna- "I stopped her. "Is everything okay? Why did Alpha leave so suddenly? Did something happen?"

Luna Kate's face paled. She continued preparing the bath for me, only stopping her movements for a second. "Nothing to worry about, dear. Now what about- "

"I saw their looks, Luna." I stopped her again. "I know something is going on."

Kate kept her eyes down on the bath. "They probably just spotted some rogues wandering at the border. That shouldn't take long for them to deal with. They will be back in no time."

Luna Kate kept her eyes low. "That is nothing for you to worry about. Now, come. Let me know if the water is too hot."

I waited for Luna Kate to leave so I could climb in the bath, but instead, she just turned around and kept talking. "You should come to dinner this Wednesday; I'm going to make caviar and - "

"That's wonderful- "I said quickly, trying not to be rude. "Would it be fine if I had some privacy?" I asked, standing by the bath.

Luna Kate jumped slightly at my request. "Oh, right. Okay- "she cleared her throat nervously. "I'll be right outside the door if you need me."

I breathed a sigh of relief when she finally left. I cleaned up quickly, my babies kicking in response when I bent down into the hot water.

Luna Kate came in as soon as I finished, offering me a snack, helping me get dressed, and swiftly urging me under the covers before turning off the lights.

As I lay staring into the darkness, I realized that Luna Kate wasn't leaving. Instead, she sat down on the couch, making herself comfortable as she pulled a blanket over her lap.

That night, I waited anxiously for Alpha to return like he promised.

But he never did.
