“Yes! I want her,” he rambles quickly, and all I want is to tear his throat out for saying those three words. They belong to me. Just like she does.
I.
Want.
Her.
I’m possessed by her, and I don’t like it.
Chloe’s changing my world, my morals. Making me question everything.
The barstool topples over as I stand up and shout, “Hands off!”
There’s a hopeful look in Chloe’s eyes. She thinks I’m about to save her.Sorry, darlin’, I’m the wrong man for that.I couldn’t help my sister, can’t even help myself, and I certainly can’t help this girl.
“Your services are needed this way, darlin’.”
Her brow pinches slightly as she looks at Jackson.
“Now.” I leave no room for argument.
She tries coming to me, but the asshole biker won’t let go of her arm.
“Travis, Jonah, let her go. I’m closing up early so the two of you need to head out.”
“We’ll leave, but she’s coming with us. She already promised us a good time,” Travis, the one with the beard, laughs.
Bitterness fills my mouth, and it doesn’t register that I’ve moved across the room until my fist is in Travis’ face.
“Enough!” Jackson shouts. Before I can punch the guy again, he’s pulling me back. “Travis, Jonah, get the fuck out. You’re barred if you fight in here, you know that.”
“What about him? He started it,” Travis huffs.
“He won’t be coming back after tonight.”
“Let’s leave it, Travis. I’m too old for this shit.” Jonah starts walking out, giving me a dirty look as he bumps my shoulder on the way. I bite the air at him like a rabid dog, and he nearly trips over his own feet to get away from me.
“Are you going to let me go then?” Chloe’s voice draws me back in.
Travis still has his hands on her. Like she’s his fucking property.
“Hands off before I break them off,” I snarl.
Maybe I should find an actual leash for her to wear for the rest of the night rather than the rosary that still hangs around her neck. At least then every fucker we meet will know who she belongs to.
With a heavy grunt, Travis lets her go and follows his friend out. I start following after them, ready to murder them in the parking lot, but someone grabs my arm.
“Get the fuck off—” I start, not realizing it’s Chloe holding me back.
Her hand drops, and she steps back, looking hurt.
It’s not like I haven’t already hurt her tonight. Physically and emotionally. So why does this have my chest feeling like it’s caving in around my heart, crushing the already dead organ until all that’s left is a pile of dust?
Chapter 12
Chloe
For a moment, I thought Zack was going to be a decent human being. Every time I think I see a slither of humanity in him, it quickly disappears.
