I hadn’t realized they noticed. “I … this is a lot to throw at her, you know? I just wanted to make sure she’s having fun,” I say defensively.

“Dude. I know you have Lexi issues, but none of those women would ever do anything to make her uncomfortable. You know that,” Dex says seriously.

“Yeah, I—”

“Hooney, weee are hooome,” someone slurs from the front door.

“Son of a bitch. Lanie, use your legs,” we hear Lexi scold.

Sharing a glance with the guys, we all burst out laughing.

What the fuck is going on?

We’re to our feet when the girls come staggering around the corner. Lanie is being held up by Lexi, who has two bras in her hands, but it is Emory I can’t take my eyes off of. She is staring straight at me, and I feel the entire room sway.

Trevor laughs. “Jesus, they’re wasted.”

Hearing him, Julia takes her hands off Emory for a minute to make guns with her fingers. “Pew, pew, pew,” she says with her guns before having to grab hold of a stumbling Emory.

The three of us are jumping over each other to get to our girls.Our girls?

Lexi seems to be the only one capable of holding herself upright. “Someone had to stay sober enough to watch this shitshow,” she tells us.

“Thank you,” I say honestly.

“No problem.”

“Preston,” Lanie begins, suddenly serious, “how is it that Emory has done nothing?”

“Ah, what do you mean?” I ask tentatively.

“I means, she hasn’t had sex outside. She’s never ever been to a sex toy store. She never had sex after prom ’cause she didn’t go to prom. She has never ever never been to a strip club,” Lanie shrieks.

“Wait, you’ve been to a strip club?” Dex asks her.

“Duh. I grew up on the Canadian border. It’s eighteen to drink there, ya know? So that’s where we all had our birthdays.” She says it like Dex should know all that.

“Freaking hell, Preston, she’s never even been in a hot tub!” Julia scolds.

How the hell did they learn all this about her in just a few hours?

“Oh, yay!” Lanie yells. “We can fixer that one right now. Preston has a hot tub,” she squeals with excitement as she reaches for Emory and drags her toward the wall of windows.

“Oh, man,” Emory whines. “I don’t own a bathing suit.”

How the fuck doesn’t she own a bathing suit?

Lanie drags the door open. “That’s okay, Ems. We can go in our underpants.”

“Oh shit,” Lexi says, holding up their bras as Dex goes darting after them.

I stand there like a moron, wondering what on earth is happening.

“Come on, playboy, unless you want Dex seeing your lady’s bits, you had better grab some towels and meet us out there,” Lexi says as she follows the path of drunken bad ideas.

No way am I letting Dex see her tits before me, especially not when she is blasted out of her mind. Rushing to the guest bathroom, I grab a stack of towels. I’m entering the great room as Dex guides a crying Lanie inside.
