Chapter 45
Emmy
E oghan nudged me up to the sitting position and propped a few pillows behind me, which meant it was time for a meal. Looking at the windows, it was still light out, so it was either lunch or dinner.
My days had blended so much, but I knew that Eoghan had been home for two days. He was missing so much time from his team and I felt so guilty.
"Bad news about the medicine, no dice on changing the recipe to make it sweeter. However, I did bring you a Shirley Temple as a chaser." He set a tray filled with a hearty chicken noodle soup, a red drink with a straw and a cheery umbrella that held a cherry and a teacup with the bitter medicine.
I picked up the teacup and flung it back. It tasted awful. I swallowed it, feeling like I was going through my own bushtucker trial. Then I took a few sips of the Shirley Temple that were too sweet after something so bitter.
Eoghan's fingers brushed back some of my hair. God, I had to be disgusting since I hadn't left my bed in days. I needed to get a shower, but I wasn't sure if Eoghan wanted me to try that.
"Up for helping me to get a shower or a bath?" I asked as I put my spoon into the chicken noodle soup.
His eyes instantly hooded over, and it seemed like he adored the idea of helping me bathe. Sadly, I didn't think I had enough energy to make it really fun for him. Nor did I want to disgust him with my current state.
"Of course. What do you prefer?"
His soup was amazing. That was when I realized that I took a real turn for the better. Not only was I wanting a shower, my appetite was back.
"A shower sounds better, but the idea of standing for even five minutes seems like too much work."
"Eat your soup and when you're ready, we'll get you into the shower."
I devoured the soup since it was tasty and to stop the gurgling of my empty stomach. It was surprisingly filling. It was full of flavor, chicken, carrots, and potatoes. Looking up at him between spoonfuls, I said, "You're really a good cook."
He smiled and looked away. "More, I know how to call a good cook and have them talk me through each and every step."
It was sweet. I loved how much effort he put into everything. Not many people would actually call up a friend and have them walk them through it. But that kind of summed up Eoghan, epically sweet.
After I finished my meal, Eoghan took the tray away from me and set it aside. He went to the bathroom. I was pretty sure he was running a shower for me.
Then he came to the side of the bed and held out a hand. I took it and he helped me up.
The escort to my bathroom was complete with him stripping both of us of our clothing.
Getting to the shower, the water felt perfect. He even threw in a shower steamer, which surprised me since he normally tried to keep anything scented away. The eucalyptus worked its way through my lungs and helped to expand everything.
Eoghan wrapped his arms around my waist and held me up. I leaned against his rock-hard body. I loved how sturdy he was. He kissed my ear and whispered, "Shampoo or body wash first?"
I looked up at him. It just seemed too good to be true. My knight in shining armor. One who wasn't afraid of making himself uncomfortable just to make me feel better.
"Body wash. I have to smell."
"Maybe a little." He grabbed my loofah. It looked so dainty to have the lilac color mesh poof in his hand. He squirted my St. Ives lemon and blood orange body wash onto the poof. Then he scrubbed every inch of my body. Although he had one hand around my waist at all times.
This was one of the most intimate things that I'd ever experienced. His touch was so damn soft, and he was sure to move me towards the water to wash off everything. I barely needed to do anything except breathe, and I loved it. If I had more energy, I would have taken advantage of his sensual touch.
"Close your eyes. Oh, they already are."
My eyes were barely open to begin with since I always showered with my eyes mostly closed. He kissed the nape of my neck.
His fingers worked through my scalp, giving me one of the best head massages ever. I just loved how he built up a rich lather. As he helped to rinse out the suds, I said, "I shouldn't say this, but I want to get sick again if it means you can bathe me like this."
He chuckled and kissed me. "Never get sick like this again, but I'll bathe you anytime you want."
