Chapter 21
Emmy
E oghan had a secret, and I hated he was keeping it from me. Didn't he realize secrets were like poison?
I decided it was time to go to his house and confront him about it.
He wasn't home when I got there. While it may not have been my best idea, I let myself into his place and made myself a cup of tea.
But he wouldn't have given me a key if it wasn't okay for me to drop in unannounced.
At least, that's what I kept telling myself, but as it got later and later, I thought I made a bad decision.
The jingle in the lock made me sit up nice and straight. He already saw my car in the driveway, so it would be too late to leave. Now I just needed to get him to open up.
As he came into the living room, the tension just rose. "It's really not a good time right now."
I came up to give him a hug, if only to ease up some of the tension that was coming off his body. "I only came to make sure you're doing okay. I've been worried about you as you got into your head more and more lately."
Eoghan sighed, but his body was damn tense. You could bounce a quarter off his muscles without a doubt.
He gritted his teeth. "I'm fine, but you got to leave right now."
I tried to understand where he was coming from, since I never thought I would see the day he would throw me out. Not after all the confessions to me.
"Why are you pushing me away? It's not like you."
He grunted and fell to the floor. Hating to see him in pain, I rushed over to hug him, but he pushed me back with his arm. He gritted out, "Stay back."
Then I watched something that I couldn't believe. Body hair spurted all over his body and turned into fur. It was thick.
There were pops of his bones. His body reshaped before my eyes. Then I realized he was turning into a fucking wolf in front of me.
I backed against the wall and cried, "Werewolf."
He laid down and looked me in the eye with those steely grey eyes. He growled out something. I couldn't understand what he said, but I tried to pull myself off the wall and not be so afraid. But I slid down the wall.
I was petrified and sat in the fetal position against the wall hugging my knees. For a long time, I was scared to open my eyes, sure that he was going to attack. But the longer I sat there, the more I realized, he wasn't like what you saw in the movies. He wasn't trying to kill me or bloody thirsty at all.
My fear dissipated over time. Especially after he laid down in front of me.
Instead, he was still my boyfriend and just looking almost pitiful in front of me with his head in his paws. As he sat in front of me with those sorrowful eyes, I petted his head as if he was like any other dog laying in front of me.
