Page 73 of Resist
I pressed my lips to the gap near the hinge and sighed, “Open what?”
He closed his eyes and gritted his teeth. “The door … for now.”
“That could be a bad idea, don’t you think?”
“Helena.”
I smiled. “Yes?”
“A bad idea is making me wait any longer.”
I giggled. “And why’s that?”
“BECAUSE I WANT TO FUCK YOUR BRAINS—”
I wrenched open the door and pulled him inside by the scruff of the neck. “Jesus! Stop shouting. Are you insane?” My eyes travelled his freshly showered body adorned in a clean crisp shirt and dress shorts. “Why are you dressed up?”
“Because we’re going out for dinner.” He strode into my suite and had a stickybeak at the interior.
I followed him. “Dinner?”
“Yes.”
“When? It’s just gone midday.”
“We have to get there early.”
“Where?”
“Mum’s house.”
“WHAT?”
I reached out to the dining chair to steady myself.
“I told you, she’s cooking a lamb roast.”
Shaking my head, I smiled the type of smile you smile when you hear there’s a zombie apocalypse. “Nooooo, you saidyouwere going to your mum’s for a lamb roast.”
“And now you’re coming with me.”
“Lucas, no. I can’t. It’s not my place—”
“I won’t masturbate on stage if you don’t go,” he blurted out, his expression deadset.
I laughed. “You’re not serious.”
His expression didn’t change.
“You’ve got to be fucking kidding me.”
Still, no change.
“ARGH!” I stormed into my room, slamming the door behind me. Once I was in there, I shook my head, turned around, and stormed back out. “Now you just wait a minute, Lucas Malone. I’m your boss, and what I say go—”
Like many times before, Lucas stole my words with his lips when they covered mine; his scent, body, taste, and tongue, rendering me immobile. I fell into the kiss, how could I not? Warm strong arms, soft hands, low murmurs, greedy tongues; he was hard to resist. Everything about this man was hard to resist. I’d tried, damn I’d tried, but as the Borg would say, ‘Resistance is futile’, and I agreed.
Separating his lips from mine, he held my head firm and kissed my cheek. “Please?” He kissed my forehead. “Please?” He kissed my eyelid. “Please? He kissed my other eyelid. “Please?” He kissed the tip of my nose. “Please—”
