“Can you please pass me that glass of water on the coffee table?”
“Sure.” Lucas did as I asked. “But don’t you want a fresh one? It’s been sitting there since we arrive—”
I poured it over his head.
“Helena! What the —” He blinked, water dripping from his eyelashes. “Was that your revenge for the pool?”
I smirked. “Did you see it coming?”
“No.”
“Then of course not.” I bit back my smile. “Shake like a dog for me.”
“Ooh kinky,” Josh said again.
“Not funny, arsehole.”
I laughed. “It’s just water, Lucas. Now give your head a light shake. It’s too wet.”
“It’s never too wet.”
Sighing, I rolled my eyes at Josh.
“What?” He shrugged. “It’s true.”
Lucas shook his head, deliberately sprinkling me with water.
I remained impassive. “Okay, let’s try this again,” I said, smoothing down his hair to one side and smiling — he lookedverygeeky. I then messed it up as much as I could, laughing at the result. “Oops, too much.”
“Dude! You look like Jim Carey in that movie.”
“Hang on. I’m not finished yet.” I ran my fingers through his hair, combing it back until it settled perfectly. “There, a ‘hot’ teacher.” I smiled at him, our eyes locking.
He swallowed hard and diverted his gaze to my lips. I licked them, I couldn’t help it.
Josh coughed and jumped up from the chair. “See you tomorrow.”
“What?” I exclaimed. “We’re not done yet.”
“We,” he said, gesturing to him and then to us, “are done.”
“What about the geek to god transition?”
“Looks like you just figured that out.”
“But?”
“Don’t cock-block me, boss lady. I have a date with my girlfriend.”
I went to object but what the hell did I say to that? My employee just called me a cockblocker. I had absolutely nothing.
“Fine. Go. We’ll work on it again tomorrow.”
“Sweet. But it’ll have to be before the show. We’re heading to Australia Zoo in the morning.”
“You’re going to the zoo?”
“Yeah, we all are.”
