“You may have some sway over her.” I suggested.
He scoffed as he glared at me. “The woman is insane. And not just a little, man. She is an all-out psychopath. Even if she appears to agree with me or acts like she is listening. It’s all a lie.”
“What if you ask her about this trade?” Fate asked him.
He looked over at him. “I can ask but she doesn’t know the difference between reality and whatever the fuck land she lives in.”
“But you would be willing to do it, right?” Justice asked.
Rip glared at him and then at the rest of us. “I will do whatever it takes to end this shit. I can’t promise I won’t throw the fuck up during this little talk though. The woman literally makes my skin crawl.”
We all looked at him in sympathy. At least, I did. This whole thing must have been hell on this guy.
“You can bring her dinner,” Bea Walker spoke from the doorway.
Jarret nodded at her. “Good idea.”
“Yes, but y’all better be coming to the table to have your supper first.” She turned and went down the hall.
“Well, we will try this after dinner,” Talon said.
“So the meeting is over?” I asked.
The Walker brothers and Liv looked over at me.
“Son, you come when she calls for dinner,” my dad stated.
Talon laughed. “If you like your hide the way it is, you do.”
They all laughed.
“Rip can take dinner to her afterward and see if he can…” Liv shook her head. “Talk to her?”
Rip nodded and left the room.
We all followed.
When we got to the dining room, dinner dishes were being set all along the middle. I saw all the women now and I looked around for one in particular.
Justice bumped into me. “What the..?” He shook his head. “You need to find a seat, brother.”
I shook my head and let him go around me. I wanted a seat next to wherever Cinnamon would be sitting. Suddenly, I saw her as she brought out a tray of large serving spoons. I waited as she set them at the serving dishes. After she was finished, she went around and sat at the far end of the table, where there weren’t many people sitting. Of course, I followed.
My cousin Prophet was just getting ready to sit in the seat next to her. I went past that chair and intended to sit in the next one.
Justice almost jumped into the seat.
I peered down at him with narrowed eyes.
He looked up at me and grinned.
The motherfucker was taunting me. I’d dealt with his BS for years and I would do so now. I stepped over and grabbed his shirt collar then tugged him up.
“Is there a problem here, boys?”
We looked over at Bea.
She smirked. “Justice, come and sit next to me. I got some lawyerin’ I need doing.”
