I snort. “What, like waiting thirty minutes after you eat to go swimming?”

“Well, I don’t know,” he says, dragging a hand through his hair. “I’m trying to be, like, respectful, when really, I’m freaking the fuck out because all I can think is, ‘Holy fuck, she’s here! Why am I not inside her yet?’ And I’m trying to make that voice shut up and focus and have ‘the talk’ or whatever this is,” he says, gesturing between us. “But it’s just…I’ve just missed you so goddamn much. I cup his face. “I’m right here, angel. And there are no rules when it comes to timing or dibs, at least not for me. But if it makes you uncomfortable to think I was with Caleb earlier…ifyouwant to wait, or if you want me to shower first—” I bite off my words, my hands lowering as I feel my cheeks go a little warm.

Jake’s gaze drifts to my black, high-waisted leggings. “Did he take you bare?”

I nod.

He lets out another low groan. “God, why does that turn me on so much?” He leans in, one arm at my waist as he brushes his lips along my temple. “Are you dripping with my best friend’s cum right now, Seattle Girl?”

My heart flips. “What?”

“We don’t have to tell a soul outside of Caleb and HR,” he adds. “No one has to know if that’s really what you want. But I want this all above board. I don’t want this biting you in the ass later. I’m the only one who gets to do that,” he adds with another wolfish grin.

I let out a breath, my mind racing. Signing a form feels so official. Hell, you sign a marriage license. The look of hope in his eyes is tearing down all my walls. He’s laying me bare. Slowly, I cup his cheek and nod. “Okay.”

His eyes go wide. “Wait—seriously?”

“Yeah, okay. We’ll sign the forms. We’ll tell Vicki.”

He grins like a loon, wrapping me in his arms. “Oh, you are so fucking fired. I’m not your patient anymore, Doc. I’m not gonna go to you for so much as a hangnail. Never again.” His hands are all over me as he murmurs in my ear. “I’m gonna be so professional. People will give us an award for ‘most collegial.’”

I snort, my body arching into his hands, craving more.

But then he cups my cheek, jerking my face up to hold his gaze. “But when we come home, all bets are fucking off. No colleagues.Say it.”

“No colleagues,” I reply on a breath.

“No ghosting me.”

I shake my head. “No ghosting.”

His gaze softens as he smiles. “We’re gonna have so much amazing sex, you’ll think you’ve died and gone to pussy heaven. I’m gonna treat you so good, baby. And we’ll cook and go to the beach and do couples shit too. You’re mine.”
