Page 113 of Pretty Poison
Rocky spread a blanket beneath the tree after the last guest left, and they lay on their backs staring up at the sky while holding hands. With low cloud cover, they had a fantastic view of the starlit sky. Soon, the simple touch wasn’t enough, so they rolled onto their sides, facing one another. Rocky ghosted his fingers over Asher’s brow and cheek and chiseled jaw. When he reached his husband’s chin dimple, Rocky slid his finger upward to trace Asher’s lips.
“They’re not going to kiss themselves,” Asher said.
“No, they won’t,” Rocky said, leaning forward and pressing his mouth to Asher’s. The kiss started out as teasing and light but quickly progressed to a deeper foray that included roaming hands.
A shadow crept over them, and a heavy panting sound intruded on their moment.
Rocky pulled back and looked at Asher. “Was that you doing the heavy breathing?”
“I hadn’t worked up to it yet,” he replied.
They turned their heads simultaneously and found Fiona standing over them with her leash hanging from her mouth.
“It’s our wedding night, Fifi,” Asher said. “You have this nice yard to do your business in.”
“Her walks wait for no one.” Rocky stood up and held out his hand to Asher. “If you think this dog is a cockblocker, just wait until we have kids.”
Asher wrapped Rocky in his arms. “I can’t wait.”
Fiona let out a series of short barks.
Rocky laughed. “This dog won’t walk herself.”
“Okay, Fi,” Asher said to her as he attached the leash to her harness. “One quick walk around the block.”
Fiona barked again.
Asher smiled at Rocky. “She said okay.” Asher leaned closer and said, “Then I promise alone time with Daddy.”
“You’ve made a lifetime of promises today.”
Asher kissed Rocky’s smiling lips. “I’ll keep every damn one.”
The End!
