“Who are you talking to like that? Just because you done turned twenty don’t mean you can catch an attitude up in my house.
Me being a lawyer has nothing to do with telling you to get a real job.
What kind of work do you plan on doing online with no job history under your belt whatsoever?
Please tell me how you plan on making all this money online!
See, that’s that smart talk you do that makes me nervous. ”
“I’m not trying to get smart, Mom. You always think I have ill intentions behind everything I say to you and I don’t. I’m serious when I say that people can make a lot of money from working at home. It’s the way of the world now. That’s really all I meant by what I said.”
I wasn’t trying to get into it with my mom on my birthday.
“Unless you’re selling some ass, and I know you know better than to be doing something as degrading as that, I don’t see it. Especially with no degree and no job history,” my mom rebutted.
I chose to let her have the last word. God forbid if she knew her only daughter was a OnlyFans sensation. I topped the charts and made some very decent money, and on the daily. That was a secret I would have to take to my grave because my parents would disown me for sure… if only they knew.
“All your mother is trying to say is beware of the online money-making scams out there. The fact that your mom is a lawyer works in your favor because you can run all the online jobs you’re interested in applying for by her first. That way she can do her research and let you know if it’s a scam or not. Problem solved.”
“Sure thing, Dad,” I replied as I continued to eat my shrimp and grits.
I was just as over the conversation as he was.
I just hoped my mom was over it as well.
I was tired of hearing her criticism and hoped I would be relieved just this one day from it.
She worked my nerves, yet as I stuffed my face with the food she made, I was appreciative for her.
She had made all of my favorites which just so happened to be brunch foods.
I wasn’t typically a heavy eater, but I loved me some breakfast foods.
I could eat it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and not get sick of it.
Everything my mom made was on point. The scrambled eggs with cheese and spinach, cast iron skillet pancakes, thick cut bacon and shrimp and grits, and croissants were all amazing.
“Everything tastes so good, Mom. I appreciate you for cooking. I wish you had more time to cook often, especially my favorite dishes.”
“Thanks, baby,” my mom replied.
“Oh, before I forget,” my dad said as he stood up from his seat.
As my dad went to get what I assumed was my birthday present, I noticed my phone kept lighting up with nonstop notifications.
Birthday wishes from all of my various social media accounts were flooding my phone, but the notification that got my attention the most was the money sign.
Whenever I had a green money sign in my notifications bar that meant money had been deposited into my bank account.
The question I was most interested in was seeing who had blessed my account with my favorite type of birthday wish.
Clicking on the money sign I saw that I had various Cash App deposits.
Not to mention, my OnlyFans deposits were growing from various random people on my account.
It was only a little past eight in the morning and my bank account had grown to almost three thousand bucks.
Reggie had deposited two thousand one hundred of the money alone directly into my bank account from Zelle. Seeing that he had sent me a text message, I went to our text thread.
Reg: Happy birthday, beautiful. I didn’t know what to get you and since you’ve been ignoring me, I figured I’d give you $100 for every year of your life. Buy yourself something nice with it. I hope you enjoy your special day.
That was very sweet of him to do, and in my case, lying about my age worked in my favor.
My birthday was posted all over all of my social media accounts so the world would know it was a real one’s birthday, and I was being shown so much love.
It was a shame that I got more attention from strangers than my own parents and family.
It was cool, I was used to it and had grown to thrive from it.
I mentioned on one of my posts cash gifts were appreciated, and to my surprise I’d been getting deposits.
It was still pretty early in the day, and it was about to be lit all day seeing that amount grow throughout the day just because it was my day.
In true Reggie form, his amount superseded all the rest, but everything about him stood out amongst the rest. Engrossed in my phone, my dad’s hand touching my shoulder almost scared the life out of me.
“Before you get too wrapped up in your phone and into your own world, your mother and I have something for you. I gotta run to my barber to get lined up for dinner tonight and be back in enough time to get ready,” my dad said.
He handed me two envelopes along with a lanyard from Condell, the hospital he worked at, that had four keys on it.
Looking up at him then over to my mom they both were standing there with the biggest grins on their faces.
That was when I realized those keys were more than likely the keys to my condo.
“Oh my God!” I yelped beyond excited. “Which one did you guys get?”
“Open your cards to see,” my dad beamed.
Opening the small envelope first, it was a Discover card with my name on it.
“The credit limit is eight thousand, but that’s not for you to go crazy and charge a bunch of stuff on. Only get the things you need!” my dad stressed.
“Your father and I will help you make the monthly payments as long as you keep your grades up and do what you’re supposed to do. We figured you could use it to get you some furniture. That should be more than enough to get a few things to make the place comfortable for you,” my mom chimed in.
That was my mom’s way of sucking the joy out of everything good ‘cause I knew then they got the condo she wanted, which was why I also got a credit card.
It was what it was because after a year, I planned to not rent but purchase my own.
For the sake of getting to move out from under them, I was willing to do things their way for at least my freshman year.
“Oh my God! Thank you, guys so much!” I exclaimed.
Sitting the keys and credit card on the table, I opened the second envelope and out popped a brochure with a packet of paperwork.
“The keys are a dead give-a-way that you guys got the condo. What I can’t wait to find out is which one. I’m praying it’s the one off the lake.”
Opening the packet, I saw it was the paperwork detailing the condo my parents purchased. Just from the address alone I knew it was the one my mom wanted. It was a second or maybe even third choice for me. It definitely wasn’t my first choice.
“I know it’s not the one you wanted, sweetie, but you did say you really like this one also,” my mom said.
“Oh, and it’s off the lake, just a few blocks away from the one you wanted.
It’s a great starter place for you. I love that there’s room to make upgrades that way we can personalize to our likings. ”
My mom was already making it known the place was ultimately hers.
“The one I wanted was already upgraded. You guys are busy enough as is. Do you really have time to upgrade the place?” I asked.
“I make time for anything I can turn and make a profit on, baby,” my mom responded.
“Well, for what it’s worth, I hope you like it. You can move in as early as Monday morning,” my dad interjected. “I’m about to head out. See you later, and happy birthday again, baby girl.”
Thanking my dad again for my gifts, then giving him a quick hug, I used his get-a-way as an opportunity to head back to my room.
I needed to either call or text Reggie back to thank him for the money and I saw that Jamal had tried calling me twice.
Thanking my mom then offering to help with the dishes, I was most gracious and didn’t press on it when she said she’d take care of everything.
Jetting to my room, I quickly texted Jamal while I prepared to call Reggie.
I really didn’t want to talk to Reggie because I was trying to get him out of my system.
The day that I had confronted him and his baby momma, he wound up calling me later that night, but it was a little too late.
Jamal had called me twenty or so minutes before he did, and me and Jamal ended up meeting up that night.
The dilemma I was in now was the night of the confrontation, Jamal and I had sex.
Since then, these past couple of days together, things between us had been great.
Jamal was a really great guy. He was super attractive, his sex game was decent, and I was starting to really like him a lot. He just wasn’t Reggie.
Reggie was the one that had a hold over me.
I fantasized about being his girl all the time.
He made me feel grown, needed, and sexy.
I had to reach out and thank him for the birthday money even though I knew it wasn’t a good idea reconnecting with him.
As I pondered over whether to call or text Reggie, Jamal called me again.
“Hey Jamal, I was just about to text you. I was talking to my parents. My mom cooked a big breakfast for me,” I answered.
“I know you have a lot to do, but I have a surprise for you. Be ready for me to pick you up in fifteen minutes.”
“Awwww…that’s so sweet, babe, but I have to do my hair and make up for tonight. Plus, Trista is coming over. Do you have your outfit picked out for later?” I asked.
Even though it was still pretty early in the day, I wanted to take my time getting ready for tonight.
Trista was supposed to be coming over so that we could get dressed together.
I hadn’t planned to meet up with Jamal and hang out with him.
I appreciated the surprise, but I didn’t have the time for it.
“I won’t take much of your time, I promise. Just trust me. You’re taking the element of surprise out of my gift for you.”
“I’m sorry, Jamal. As long as I’m back home by one o’clock because Trista is coming over to help with my hair.”
“Bet. I’ll see you in less than ten minutes.”
“Just pull up, and I’ll come out. You don’t have to park and come in. My mom is here, and you know how she likes to ask a bunch of questions.”
“Mrs. Nelson and her sexy self!” Jamal joked. “She don’t be meanin’ no harm.”
“Yeah, okay! You don’t have to live with her. Let me put something on, I haven’t had a chance to get dressed yet.”
Hanging up with Jamal, I figured I’d call Reggie while I got ready to meet with Jamal.
