Page 39 of Obeying Mr Kingsley
Lexi bends to get napkins from the lower tray on the trolley, and every man in the room stares at her ass.
I clear my throat.
The meeting continues.
Jesus fucking Christ. We are all animals.
When she straightens, her eyes lock with mine, her face pale as if she’s seen a ghost.
Is her wrist broken?Did she even go to the doctor or simply wrap it with some items she purchased from the pharmacy?
I should have damn well checked.
I clench my fist as I nod to Mark and Ezra, keeping the conversation flowing.
Then I hear her whispered curse as she slides a heavy plate into the middle of the table.
I clear my throat again and push my chair back an inch.Lexi’s eyes snap to mine, dart over to Mark Harrow for some odd reason, then drop.
I frown.
The CEO is English, and it never occurred to me they might know one another.
I understand he’s married, and anyway, he’s too old for her, even if he is only a few years older than me.
He watches her pack up the cart and head to the door, and because I’d studied body language and facial expressions for business and negotiation purposes, I know enough to know Mark is affected by her presence.
What I don’t know is why.
And I don’t fucking like it.
Has she fucked him?
My arm slaps down on the table by accident, capturing everyone’s attention, including Lexi’s as she opens the door.
I hold those green globes; demanding answers she can’t give me right now, and all I see is guilt.
She hurries out, and I’m left simmering in my fury.
What the hell is going on?
Distracted, I find it difficult to stay focused and ignore the way Mark keeps glancing between me and the doorway.
Wanting to kill this potential big customer because he may have seen my PA’s tits is not a great way to do business.
I don’t like that he may have had his dirty fingers on her.
His mouth.
Fuck.
“Excuse me, gentlemen.”I push my chair back.“I’ll be back in a minute.”
Ezras shoots me a confused glance but continues as I stride over to the door and slip out.
I draw a breath then round the corner, finding Lexi at her desk.
Those damn guilty eyes lift.
