“You take the subway, right?”
“Yeah.” He nodded.
“Can you take Brooke’s car home and drive it back tomorrow?”
He looked over my shoulder toward Brooke. “Sure, no problem.”
I scooped ice into the last glass for his drinks. “Thanks.”
It’s not every day that I see Brooke drunk. She wasn’t supposed to drink while on her meds. Hell, she wasn’t supposed to be driving because she was on narcotics. If she were to get into an accident, it would be considered driving under the influence. I hated seeing her in pain, though. She rarely complained, but I could tell. I’d see her cringe whenever she moved her arm. She’d already been through so much—too much. I wished I could take it all away.
“Hey,” I said, stopping next to Avery as he washed a few glasses. “You cool if I take Brooke home? I know she’s tired even if she won’t tell me.”
“Yeah, of course. Nic’s sleeping upstairs, so no problem.”
“Thanks. Traver’s gonna take Brooke’s car so nothing happens to it in the parking lot tonight. You’ll need to swing by and pick me up tomorrow so I can get her car.”
“We need to hire another manager. I’m done working weekends,” he grumbled.
“I feel the same way.” I made my way down the bar, grabbing empty glasses until I got to Brooke. I placed my elbows on the bar and leaned over to whisper in her ear. “Are you ready to fulfill that fantasy?”
She laughed as she eyed the chick next to her. “Yep.”
“Give me your keys.” I held out my hand.
“Why?”
“Traver’s taking it, and I’m taking you back tomyplace.” I looked at the chick that Brooke kept looking at. I had no idea what she was doing, but if it was anything like last time, Brooke was up to no good and betting this chick something.
“All right.” She dug in her purse and handed me her keys. “Are we leaving now?”
“After I get my things from upstairs. Drink the rest of your water and I’ll be right back.”
I ran up the stairs, opening the door quietly so as not to wake Nicole. After grabbing my keys from the top drawer of my desk, I returned to Brooke. “Ready?” I asked, coming up behind her. My dick started to stiffen as it brushed her ass and I kissed the side of her neck.
She turned around, looking up into my eyes. “Yep.”
I grabbed her hand, leading toward the front door. I saw a few women watching us, but I was used to them staring. Before Brooke, I would just take them up to my office and have them suck my dick, but the seven nights I spent with Brooke on the cruise had changed me, and now I never wanted any other woman exceptmySuperwoman.
“Hey, G,” I said to Gary, one of our bouncers who manned the front doors. “I’m taking off. Can you make sure Avery and Traver get all the people out?”
“Yeah, no problem, boss.”
“See, youarethe boss man,” Brooke slurred.
I chuckled and shook my head as Gary laughed. “I’ll see you tomorrow.”
He nodded before I continued leading Brooke to my car.
By the time I drove into our driveway, Brooke was asleep. I didn’t blame her. I would be asleep too if I’d drunk as much as she did. It was just enough to be tired, but not enough to be wasted. I didn’t know how she lasted as long as she did mixing medications with alcohol, but she’d made it to last call. I assumed the pills would increase the effects of the booze and she’d be flat on her ass.
Brushing her hair away from her face, I whispered, “Baby, we’re home.”
She groaned. “Five more minutes.”
“Come on. The bed will be more comfortable.”
One of her eyes cracked open. “I have a fantasy to live out.”
