Page 47 of My Alpha Stepbrother's Dirty Secret 2
"Don't even start!"he snapped, cutting me off."Do you know it's all over the fucking internet, Killian?Cynthia didn't even waste a second. The company's stock is crashing, the council was livid, and guess what? You're almost getting eliminated from the fucking campaign. We're hanging by a thread here and you...you didn't even think to give a damn heads-up!"
I felt as if the ground beneath me shifted.
"Wait—what do you mean it's all over the internet? What exactly did she do?!"
"She told the entire fucking world that you're in an incestuous relationship with your sister. That's what she did."
I froze.
"WHAT?!"
I ended the call without another word and opened my browser with trembling hands. My heart was beating so fast I could feel it in my throat.I typed in my name and the first headline that popped up made my blood run cold:
¶¶MULTI-BILLIONAIRE Killian WOLFE EXPOSED IN SHOCKING INCEST SCANDAL!
In a shocking revelation, sources close to the Wolfe family have confirmed that Killian Wolfe, CEO of Wolfe Enterprises was allegedly involved in an incestuous affair with his sister, Liana.Divorce filings surfaced earlier today showing that Wolfe legally separated from his socialite wife Cynthia Stone. In a tell-all interview, Cynthia claims the divorce stemmed from Wolfe's ongoing affair with his sister, whom he allegedly fathered a child with in secret.Neither party has issued an official statement yet, but insiders say the fallout within Wolfe Enterprises has been immediate, with shares already dropping by 12% within minutes of the scandal breaking.¶¶
I dropped my phone.
I couldn't even breathe properly. My hands were shaking, and my vision was blurry for a second.I held on to the wall to keep myself from collapsing.
Fuck.Fuck.FUCK!
She really did it.
She fucking did it.
Cynthia knew exactly what to say to destroy me, and she said it.Of course she did.She waited until the exact moment when she had nothing left to lose. And she didn't care who she hurt in the process. She just wanted to burn everything to the ground, and I gave her the damn matchstick.
I needed to fix this.Now.
I couldn't let Liana see this.I couldn't let Ryan grow up with this shit attached to his name.I had to fix it before my entire world went to hell.
I rushed down the hallway, ignoring everything and everyone. My mother called out from the kitchen.
"Killian, food is ready.Come eat first—"
"Later," I barked, barely turning to look at her.
I slammed the door behind me, yanked my keys from my pocket, and jumped into my car.I didn't even care where I was going.I just knew I had to get to my team, get to Logan, get to whoever the hell could stop this mess before it buried me alive.
Because Cynthia didn't just ruin my image, she was trying to rip Liana apart with this. And I swear, if even one hair on Liana's head was harmed because of this, I'll make Cynthia regret the day she ever crossed me.
CHAPTER 73
Liana's POV
after I got out of the room and took a long, hot bath that did absolutely nothing to calm the ache in my chest, I changed into something more comfortable and came downstairs, still trying not to think as if it would help about the way Killian had looked at me before he left.I didn't know what I was expecting to see when I walked into the living room while holding my breath, but the moment I did, my stepmom glanced up from where she was setting the table and gave me that look, that mom look that says, "I know something's wrong even if you try to pretend otherwise."
"Did you and Killian fight?"she asked as casually as she could, but I could already hear the concern under her voice.
I opened my mouth to say yes, to admit that it wasn't just a fight but a full-blown emotional disaster that ended with me saying things I didn't fully mean, but before I could say anything, she added, "Because he stepped out angrily...like, really angrily."
I paused, caught off guard."He did?"
She nodded slowly, her brows slightly pinched."He looked really tense.Didn't say a word to anyone.Just grabbed his keys and left."
Something inside me twisted.I didn't think he'd be that upset.I mean, yes, I knew I hurt him with what I said, but he was always so good at hiding his feelings behind that cold, confident exterior.I didn't know it would hit him that hard.
