“Maybe, but for now, you have contracts in place, and we can only hope that her allegations don’t affect the moral clause of them since there is no basis to support what she’s saying. It’s hearsay.”
“Cool.” I exhaled, massaging the bridge of my nose as several different thoughts circled my mind. “I wanna announce some shit too, Audrey.”
“Like what?” She began typing away on her computer.
“Like the fact that Tamira promised me the role of Denim but only if I had sex with her and continued to, to keep my place on the show. Only reason she mad and leaving now is because I turned her down the last couple times.”
Audrey immediately stopped typing to focus on me with her lips parted and eyes wide in shock.
“Are you serious?”
“Remember I called you after the audition and explained that they told me I needed to work on it a little bit?” I asked, and she nodded slowly like she was recalling it. “Then a few hours later, you got an email saying I was casted.”
“And that was because…”
“Yep.” I nodded. “But before I tell the world, I wanna see if she did the shit to anyone else.”
“Are you sure about this? Tamira is no small beast. One wrong move, Unique, and you will never act in anything ever again.”
“I’m very fucking sure. I don’t want the shit happening to anybody else,” I admitted. “Because while I was grown, ain’t no telling what age she don’ did the shit too.”
“Yes, true. You were grown, but she’s old enough to be your mother, which makes that disgusting. Even if she were younger, her using her position to sleep with you is unethical and extremely inappropriate.”
“So you agree that I should come out with the shit?”
“I do, so long as you know there may be bad fallout.”
“I do.” I nodded, latching onto her eyes with mine.
“Then I’m on board. Let me make some calls on the low and see if I can find at least three other people to start when you drop the bomb.”
I bobbed my head in agreement, feeling good about the shit and knowing Kabrina would be happy.
At the end of the day, Devante Compton wasn’t the only muthafucka needing to face the music. Tamira Weathers needed to be exposed too. I just didn’t wanna face my damn mama when this shit dropped.
WEEKS LATER…
Last night at midnight,I’d launched my three gloss colors on my website. I wanted to sell my product on my own and see how it did before bringing anything to a distributor. Plus, from what I’d read, a distributor would be more inclined to take you on when they could see a sales report showing high revenue.
My phone was buzzing back-to-back on my nightstand, waking me up. As I opened my eyes, I was confused, but then I remembered that Unique and I were now living in a new home he’d finally purchased. Turning onto my side and grabbing my phone from the nightstand, I picked it up to see I had a plethora of social media notifications.
I couldn’t stop the smile that covered my face as I tapped the icon, ready to see the feedback from what people thought of the colors, pricing, and everything else but the actual product since it would need to be shipped. However, I was sadly mistaken as to what I was being blown up about.
Instead of it being my new line of glosses Koated by KK, it was in regard to AJ doing a random ass interview telling the world that Unique helped me to abort his child.
And I guess the universe felt that wasn’t enough humiliation on this day of all days, so his wife Zosia had done a live like she loved to do, telling the world how AJ had left her months ago for me. I didn’t get what the fuck her obsession was with assuming this nigga was with me when she knew damn well he and I hadn’t been together in fucking forever.
But what I cared about most was that all this shit had overshadowed the launch of my glosses. I didn’t see anyone really talking about it, and though I had orders, it wasn’t as much as I thought it would be. I noticed there were a few comments under the post on my gloss’s page but after reading just one, I exited out of the app.
Jayjay: she think launching her little cheap ass glosses is gonna make us forget she’s a home wrecker.
As soon as I set my phone down, willing myself not to cry, Unique walked into the bedroom with a brown bag of something that smelled delicious, but my appetite was nonexistent.
“Thank you, baby. But I’m not hungry,” I said, falling back onto the pillow and shielding my eyes.
He shut the door and ventured further into the bedroom before sitting on the edge of the bed next to me.
“The show is canceled, so this is our last season for sure,” he blurted, making me uncover my eyes.
