Chapter 83 - Volume 2 Chapter 39: I Can't Sleep, And i Don't Mind
(Walson)
These days, I've been researching what kind of materials and the correct proportions that are used on the said materials that would end up turning into the best fruit wine.
Although it's just a fruit wine, since they are made by my hand personally, please don't doubt the potency of the alcohol content that are on these wines.
Some of the fruit wines that I made are very strong, since they are originally made with the specific intention to beat Barella.
In the last few days, I have been busy repeatedly trying various mixes of materials, and so far, this experiment has cost me more than 100 gold coins, much of which are spent on buying various skins of fruit, both the local one and the one from outside the kingdom.
Some of the fruits that I buy are quite unique. There are fruits named the Rain Fruit, which only ripen during the rain season, and the Turtle Juicy Fruit, which grows on the back of a turtle tree...
I can only say that even in this otherworldly place, the fruits that are grown in this world are all full of fantasy style, there is even a fruit called 'Golden Bamboo', it looks just like sugarcane, tastes like one too, but the inside is all red.
Then there's the Striped Melon, which is basically a watermelon but has a blue-black exterior rather than the green and dark green, and the flesh of the fruit is purple in color.
Aside from using these fruit to make the fruit wine, i couldn;'t help myself from taking a quick bite from them.
To be honest, the taste of these unique fruits is not all that bad, but it feels weird to be eating an orange like fruit, but for some reason it felt like eating a durian.
They may be fruits that look similar to each other, but they certainly feel and taste so different from one another.
Hence, whenever i ate a fruit that i have never seen or tasted before, i would write my experience in a book.
... By the way, I actually spent a whole 100 gold coins on this kind of thing, has my sense of money started to collapse?
Whatever, chewing too much on this matter is quite a waste of time, it's better for me to continue brewing the fruit wine instead.
As a result of the fruit wine mixing experiment, I was able to brew over thirty large barrels worth of fruit wine.
.... Yeah, pretty sure this amount of wine is something that not even that drunkard Barella can handle.
Hence, I invited the people from the [$Eyes of the Night Cat$ B Team] to come to [Dog House] to have a drink together. Unfortunately, only the four-person party is in the kingdom, while the rest are busy on a mission.
Also, Paul seems to be busy running his inn business lately, so I sent some of my fruit wine barrels over to his establishment.
Truthfully, I'm pretty sure we can't finish drinking all of my fruit wine even with all of this reinforcement, but I don't know anyone else to invite.
I don't want to invite the old man next door, so I asked Melon, Grace, and Barella if they have any friends who can come over.
But... Why is that Second Princess here again!?
Right now, I am sitting at the bar, looking at the four drunk fake corpses lying on the ground.
It's the member of the four-person party who passed out after drinking too much handmade whiskey
I used some of the grains that I hadacquired during the [Autumn Harvest Festival] and combined them with mushrooms to make them ferment, then quickly matured them using the Brewing Table to make the whiskey.
In my previous life, whiskey was always known as one of the stronger liquor, something that seems to be the same case in this world too, since it took no more than a single glass of whiskey to make them pass out.
Hey! There's still a lot more wine left for you guys to drink! How am I supposed to manage to spend it all if you guys can't hold your liquor!?
I knew I should have saved the strong stuff for last! I shouldn't have listened to Barella and brought out the main wine so soon!
"...Ugh." Beside me, Grace passed out form also can be seen.
The first time someone drinks whiskey is always tough, especially for someone like Grace who has a low tolerance for alcohol. Maybe I should have insisted on giving her juice instead of wine.
It's ironic that Grace, a once in a millennium mage with over a million magical powers, was able to be brought down so easily.
"..." Melon had no intention of drinking from the beginning, and was quietly doing martial arts exercises in the backyard.
"Speaking of which, Derisha, I was curious about the little cloth bag you've been carrying around. What is it?" asked Barrela calmly.
Sitting in front of her was the second princess of this country.
After Melon brought her back, she was very open about her identity.
Except for Melon, who has already left, the situation is still pretty good with only the Second Princess and Barella left to continue drinking the fruit wine.
As for me, I've been cheating by drinking some milk after drinking the wine, so there is no way I can pass out.
Whiskey isn't an ordinary alcohol after all, and I'm pretty sure I would have passed out after my second glass without the milk.
The Second Princess and Barella seemed to have started a competition between each other without me noticing, and the two of them - one human and one elf respectively- were drinking right one after another, each girl trying to outdrink the other.
Do you know what is epic about all of this?
There are already four empty wine barrels next to them.
Each.
That means, these 2 emptied 8 whole barrels worth of whiskey and fruit wine.
These girls weren't drinking this whiskey using a glass, no, these girls were drinking straight from the whole barrels!
"Oh, that's my clothing," the Second Princess showed a somewhat helpless expression, and then continued "I got kicked out of the inn I was staying at."
"Huh? Why?" Asked I and Barella in unison,
"Why? Well, it's because I'm out of money." Said the second princess of this country, while taking another big gulp and biting on a piece of Matsuru chicken as a side dish. "By the way, your name is Walson, right? Thanks a lot for the treat."
...
I mean, what kind of concept is it for the country's princess to be so poor that she's kicked out of an inn?!
"Why would the princess of a country become so poor to the point of being kicked out of an inn?"
"Well, I became as poor as this because I just changed my weapons! And I also just spent my thirty gold coins to hire that party..." Said the broke princess, pointing her finger to the slumped figure of the four-person party near them.
"Why did you want to see Melon so badly?" This time, I spoke up in confusion, and Barella nodded in agreement.
"Because I really wanted to test my strength against a powerful opponent like her!"
"For the sake of fighting, you're willing to go hungry?!" Me and Barella both shouted in unison.
"Of course! I'm a [Fighter], this kind of decision is normal, right?" She looked at us with a very puzzled expression.
Damn it!!!!
I thought you were broke for some other tragic and heartbreaking reason!
Isn't this just like not eating for days because you want to chase after a celebrity?! And besides, her goal is to fight with the celebrity herself! Not to get the celebrity autograph!
"Since when! I'm also a [Fighter], but I've never had such a thought before."
"Huh? You are a [Fighter] too?" Said the second princess, the big barrel of wine on her hand fell from her hand due to her shock.
Enough!
This muscle-headed idiotic girl who loves to fight so crazily should just be called the silly princess instead!
"..."
Silently and in agreement, me and Barella both were left speechless.
From the moment the wine barrel hit the ground, the second princess began to sway.
And then... thud, she passed out, drunk.
In the end, only Barella and I were still awake.
The lively atmosphere just now suddenly became cold.
"In the end, it's back to just the two of us like usual." Barella got up and moved to sit next to me.
"Yeah, what a shame." I joked.
"What!? That's not fair!" Barella cooperated well and started to be hysterical, but after a few seconds, the two of us looked at each other and laughed.
"Idiot Walson."
"What?"
"Thank you."
"...Did you hit your head or something? You've been hanging around the [Dog House] and eating my food for so long without saying thank you."
This girl doesn't usually say something like "Please," "Thank you," or "Sorry."
It strongly makes me suspect that this guy was once a noble, and was unused to saying such words.
...Wait a minute, it's like a certain silly princess.
The bright golden pupils of the elf girl showed no signs of intoxication, instead conveying a very genuine emotion.
"What's wrong with you?" I became a bit embarrassed after her stare continued on for so long.
I awkwardly turned away and took a sip from my glass.
But I forgot that it was filled with liquor, and the strong sensation immediately hit my head, making me feel dizzy.
"I think I'm a little drunk too." Said Barella, her head leaning on my shoulder.
...
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Barella! Don't do this to me, come on! I'm drunk right now! The alcohol is attacking my rationality! Nooo!!
Damn it all! I won't lose to alcohol!
"...Barella, are you blind? Look over there, go there and cuddle up with your kin instead of me." While suppressing my inner scream, I pointed to the remaining large barrels and said such words with great difficulty.
"...Can't I do it too?" Barella spoke again, but this time I detected a hint of loneliness in her tone.
"Hmm?"
"Cuddling, can't I do that with you too?" she repeated.
...
".... Sure, do whatever you want."
For some reason, I couldn't find myself asleep at all that night.
