(Felia Belle)
My name is Felia Belle, and at the age of fifteen, I received the blessing of the Goddess Vantinom, becoming a force of humanity that are capable to oppose the [Demon King], I became a Hero. The world today is under the threat of various potential crises, and I, along with the other Hero, are what people call the "Twin Heroes."
The world today is under the threat of various potential crises, and I, along with the other Hero, are what people call the "Twin Heroes."
Yes, despite being a Hero, I am also one of the disruptive elements.
Why? The reason starts with the abilities of the [Vassal of The Light]. They possess the power of foreseeing the future, somewhat similar to the [Vassal of The Water]'s abilities, but with a key difference. [Vassal of The Water] can foresee short-term possibilities, while the [Vassal of The Light] can see into a more distant future. And not to mention the goddess who bestowed this power upon me; even among the gods, none can surpass her..
Five hundred years ago, she foresaw a catastrophe that would threaten the entire world. In order to avoid this calamity, she sealed herself away five centuries ago, entering a deep slumber, leaving behind a portion of her divine power and spells. These powers were meant to find the next generation of [Vassal of The Light] through the initial settings.
However, the result of not personally overseeing this process was an accident in the selection of the Hero, resulting in the birth of two Heroes, and I am one of them—the weaker one.
This goes against the doctrine of the Vantinom Church and means I am an existence that should be erased. If it weren't for the help of the "other Hero," I probably would have been in the arms of the goddess a long time ago.
Being a Hero and yet an existence not allowed is a clear contradiction of Vantinom's teachings. The internally corrupted Vantinom Church has long deviated from its original purpose; they must be reformed someday.
I returned to the wooden house constructed from block materials... This is the first time in my life I've seen such a strange building, but the interior space is unexpectedly spacious and comfortable.
I walked up to the table and tidied up my appearance. The platinum-feathered owl continued to nap with its eyes half-closed, ignoring the sounds I made.
"Did you fail?" Deep blue magical text appeared in front of me, and I turned around to see Sashara standing behind me.
Sashara is the mage in my group, and while she hasn't delved into other elements, she's mastered the secrets of water magic, becoming a Holy Mage of Ice Magic.
Her appearance, from looks to attire, freezes people with its coldness. Her expression is always icy.
Due to her inherent condition, the [Wordbound], she can't communicate with others like normal, so she usually communicates with others through magical text, just like she did a moment ago.
"Um, yeah, Bogy still seems upset with me." I shifted my gaze back to the owl.
Bogy is actually a griffin, but it usually likes to take on the form of an owl. Only on closer inspection would one notice Bogy griffin's features, such as bird-like claws.
"I'm not talking about Bogy, I'm talking about that '[Villager].'" The magical text transformed.
"Ah, you mean the perverted goblin? The one who made me, a [Vassal of The Light], utter such improper words?" I frowned.
"If it were me, I wouldn't refer to the person I'm trying to recruit as a goblin," the rearranged text responded.
It seems I need to explain how I met the goblin.
We came to the Eastern Nations because of the [Dragonoid Demon King]. We had discovered the activities of one of the [Dragonoid Demon King]'s subordinates and tracked them here.
Thus, while assisting Josephton Village in repelling the monsters, we collected information about that subordinate and successfully defeated them. However, we unexpectedly suffered from a curse backlash and fell into madness. Just when the team was preparing to turn on each other...
Goblins. When I was cursed, everything I saw appeared as monsters. It was then that the goblins, led by a dragon, a shadow fiend, a water-wind elemental hybrid, and a slender creature, defeated us and dispelled the curse.
After waking up, I decided to invite them to travel with us. There were two reasons for this:
First, we couldn't predict whether the [Dragonoid Demon King] other subordinates possessed similar abilities, and it would be reckless for us to proceed without full knowledge; second, that illusion curse was a Holy-grade dark elemental magic. Without special materials or a method to dispel it, it couldn't be removed. If we could discover the method to break the curse, it would be of immense help to other forces opposing the [Demon King]. In any case, this was the information I wanted to obtain.
I can understand his refusal to accept my Party invitation, but his refusal to disclose the curse-breaking method was something I couldn't accept. No matter how much I pleaded, he still refused to share it to me.
Didn't he consider how many lives could be saved with those powers?
A high-level [Villager] was already strange enough, and it was clear that his companions were no ordinary individuals. But what I couldn't accept was that their purpose for traveling was simply sightseeing? Sightseeing? In an era where many unfortunate demi-humans struggled to survive?
"Bel, calm down, they must have their reasons for following him," the magical text formed this sentence, seeing through my thoughts.
"Reason? Even if his level is high, his class is still of a [Villager], what kind of speciality does he have?
"Don't forget, this 'only [Villager]' is the one who defeated and saved you," the magical text replied coldly.
"...In that state, due to the curse, our entire Party is incapable of forming a rational thought and strategy, that's all. Otherwise, how could we have lost?"
"Perhaps you are right, but in the end, he still saved you, as a '[Villager].'"
"I'm going to pack my things." Leaving the room, I tried to calm myself.
"Are you leaving? Are you giving up?" The blue text suddenly appeared.
"How could I? You know that the perverted goblin, in order to shake us off, plans to depart tonight. No matter what, I will convince him to give me that curse-breaking formula!"
The magical text disappeared, and Sashara just silently watched me.
For now, Valren and Lotte remained in a comatose state due to the mental erosion, and their injuries required a long recovery time. They were in no condition to continue with the current situation...
Since the [Dragonoid Demon King] was planning on launching an invasion, I couldn't afford to make any more delays and needed to made preparation for that.
It wasn't just because the matter with the [Demon King] was urgent; it was also...
Thinking about our recovering comrades and the group of people tracking me, I made up my mind.
"But you're right. Maybe I can approach this from another angle... Sashara, I'll leave it to you to take care of the others when I'm not around."
