(Walson)
Before I move on to what happened next, let me talk about Rifle first.
Honestly, up until this point, I never considered Rifle as a combat member, and that was just a short while ago. Little did I know that Rifle had significantly improved in strength without my knowledge.
But I really didn't want to find out about his power boost in this manner.
As we were about to leave the barrier and head back, no matter how much I called for Rifle, the gray fur ball was nowhere to be found.
Instead, a golden giant wolf appeared, accompanied by a silver wolf.
This scene is too similar tot he story of the axeman who threw his iron axe into the lake, Almost instinctively, an image of a goddess-like being formed in my mind, and she spoke, "O stranger, have you lost either the golden wolf or the silver wolf in the forest?"
"...Arkon, long time no see," I finally uttered after a prolonged pause.
This majestic and powerful figure was the epitome of fantasy world creatures... But why was it covered in scars?
As I contemplated whether I should brace myself for a battle, Arkon glanced at me, snorted disdainfully, and shook its body.
Then... a colossal mass of fur tumbled from Arkon's back and landed before me.
[Rifle_LV41_HP: 130/2512_Status: [Unconscious]_Title: Ancient Tree Follower - Wolf].
"...Since you are an honest man, you can take all three of them- Uaa!" The unknown goddess that I imagined in my mind was sent flying.
So you were here, Rifle... This guy went off to fight its former boss, huh?
Rifle, Even though your life before was not that good, was it really worth getting so worked up about to the point of attacking your former boss!?
It's stupid of me to forget about the fact that this furball had a history of causing trouble and let it go to the mountains on its own!
It was the first time I saw Arkon so wounded! I'm sorry, Lord Arkon, for your golden fur that shone so brilliantly!
...But it seemed like Arkon wasn't angry. It just took the preserved meat I left and walked away slowly, leaving me speechless, a slightly surprised Grace, a silent Melon, and a dumbfounded Barella sitting on the ground.
...
...Alright, I need to speed up the timeline.
After a night of rest, and after locking Rifle up in the warehouse.
In the afternoon, a few white clouds floated in the sky, making the winter sky appear surprisingly bright. The weather has been good recently.
I stood in the courtyard, wiping off sweat, and gazed upon my recently accomplished remarkable achievement. Man, ever since I was living in that orphanage, there was this one thing I had always longed to do. And that was to properly renovate this rundown church! There's so much stuff here, like tables, chairs, and beds, that are worn out and falling apart. I mean, the bed I used to sleep on even collapsed on me once, and falling from the top bunk was a real pain in the butt.
That's why, before leaving the city, I went ahead and splurged on a whole load of timber. I mean, sure, I could have gone out and chopped down trees myself, but really, there was no need for all that hassle. After all, I've got plenty of gold coins to spare.
First things first, the kitchen. The kitchen at the orphanage is just straight-up filthy and chaotic. I mean, forget about the stove that makes you dizzy just by looking at it, even the pots and pans here are so greasy. Using magic for cleaning is just not efficient, and not everyone knows how to use it! Nope, nope, it needs a complete makeover!
So, disguised as magical tools, I left behind six [Furnaces] to replace that old stove. And as for cleanliness, I left behind a booklet that I personally put together. It's got all the details about this plant I discovered ages ago in the Nakula forest, it's called [Oil Soap Grass].
With a little bit of processing, it can be turned into a simple cleaning solution. It's non-irritating and can even be used for washing the body. I wrote down the planting method and processing steps in there. They should be able to figure it out on their own.
Now, onto the bedroom. Of course, all those rickety beds had to go. By the way, I stumbled upon a few adult magazines under some of the beds... or rather, artistic drawings of adult scenes on parchment... quite the artistic touch, I must say. Confiscated! I'll leave the slimeball behind for you guys!
Next up is the bathroom... This one's a bit tricky. Although I really wanted to go with the Minecraft approach of "Give me two buckets of water, and I'll flood the entire world," it's something we need to think about. It could cause some trouble. I mean, the folks here can still use water magic, right?
Using some basic fire magic stones and water magic stones, I managed to create personal bathing facilities. Sure, it might be a bit inconvenient for those with limited magical abilities, but I'll leave Father Marbon and the others to handle that.
All in all, this whole renovation project, building a real house is way different from doing it in a game, but it's not as tough as I thought. I just had to make sure I used support beams when demolishing stuff, so the whole building wouldn't come crashing down.
Finally, I made it to the farm... Once again, I left behind five iron hoes disguised as magical tools. I think this will greatly improve the efficiency of food production... I even added the enchantment of [Mending], which allows the tool to be repaired using experience points.
Remember when I mentioned that experience points in Minecraft are equivalent to magical power in this world? Basically, by infusing magic directly into this hoe, I can repair any damage it sustains. This means the hoe won't break, even without regular maintenance.
Initially, I wanted to leave behind some Minecraft-style chests, but considering how that completely goes against the concept of space, I decided against it to avoid any potential complications.
With everything finished, I looked at the renovated orphanage and felt quite satisfied at first. However, the more I gazed upon it, the more something seemed off. It's hard to put into words... but the architectural style of the church has taken on a rather unique form... yes, a cube-shaped church.
It seemed a bit excessive, but oh well, I shrugged it off. As for the unforeseen consequence of this act leading to the orphanage driving the entire Sadin Village's tourism economy, that was something that happened much later on.
