Because they sure as shit would smell my arousal if I kept up with those thoughts.
Yep, let’s concentrate on the tension. That would kill my arousal.
Although this tension also had a lingering sexual feel to it as well.
Dang it. Why were they so yummy to look at?
Lucas pulled out a chair across from James and Noah. “My lady?” He bowed, waving his hand out with a flourish.
I snorted a small laugh as I sat in the chair. My eyes met James’ on the other side of the table, and he nodded at me once with a soft smile.
Noah, on the other hand, continued to stare down into his coffee as if it held the answers to all of life’s mysteries.
My hands twisted together on my lap, unsure what to say to the brooding alpha when he wouldn’t even acknowledge me.
“Let me get you some food and coffee.” Lucas smiled, but it didn’t quite reach his eyes.
Oh boy. I interrupted something fun.
“Thanks,” I replied and smiled warmly at him when he added creamer to my coffee before placing it in front of me. Next came a plate filled with eggs, sausage, bacon, ham, and hashbrowns. “I can’t eat all this, Lucas. It’s more than enough for even an alpha!”
Lucas shrugged, a grin teasing the corners of his lips as he leaned his hand on the granite surface next to me. “I’m used to serving these two.” He gestured to Noah and Lucas. “Trust me, they can pack it away. Eat what you can. I’ll eat the rest.”
I nodded, taking a drink of my coffee before I picked up my fork.
Lucas’ eyes cut to Noah before he turned back to the counter.
“What are you making?” I asked curiously, desperately trying to cut the tension and fill the void of silence.
“Kouign-Amann.It’s like a sweet croissant baked and prepared differently.” Lucas worked on rolling out the dough, his hands covered in flour as he expertly worked the rolling pin.
James groaned. “You know that’s my favorite. Why are you doing this to me?”
Lucas shot him a wicked smirk over his shoulder. “Because I know you love it, I’m making extra. I wanted Bridget to try it.”
“You’re evil.” James rose to his feet and crossed the room to move behind Lucas. I watched in rapt fascination as he placed a hand on Lucas’ hip and drew his body against his, as his lips brushed over his ear. “Thank you, Cub.”
Oh fuck. Here we go again with my ovaries wanting to explode. At this rate, I would have to go upstairs and change my panties before I even got started with the day.
James kissed his cheek before grabbing his hat and keys off a hook beside the door. Opening the door, he placed his hat on his head and nodded at Noah before giving me a soft smile. “See you at dinner, Darlin’.”
Did he really just speak a sentence to me? And call me Darlin’?
Stop it, Bridget. You will not think about how incredibly hot that was or how he looked with Lucas. Nope.
Noah cleared his throat, bringing me out of my musings. “If you want, I’ll show you what we’d like you to do.” He looked away sheepishly. “After you eat and have time to let the coffee kick in.”
“That would be nice.” I brought the black mug to my lips and drank deeply. Lucas made excellent coffee. Well, everything he did in the kitchen was amazing, so I wouldn’t expect anything less.
“I sure as hell need a cup or two before I’m able to function properly in the morning.”
Lucas snorted. “More like half a pot before you’re more than grumbles. A full pot if we want intelligent conversation. It explains why we have a giant coffee maker.”
A tinge of red crept into Noah’s cheeks, but he just shrugged. “True. I won’t deny it.”
Stifling my giggle, I took a few more bites of the fantastic hash browns before I set my fork down. “I’m stuffed, no more.” I groaned as I pushed the plate away, rubbing my tummy. Oh man, was that good.
Lucas coughed and muttered something that sounded suspiciously like, “We’ll definitely stuff you, sweetheart.”
