"Will you two hurry up?" Simon called out. "I know, being in love and fresh matings and all that, but whilst you've been snogging, we arranged a surprise for you."

My brow furrowed in confusion, and I sped up. I placed Bridget on her own two feet in the kitchen, kissed her, and grabbed her hand before helping her into the living room.

Bridget hadn't ended up pregnant from her heat. Which we determined was for the best. We'd stocked up on better suppressants, opting to go with the ones that would allow her to go into a weaker heat but still had birth control hormones in them.

When we were ready, we'd very much enjoy the process of breeding our omega.

But it wasn't the right time. Yet.

"We're here. Now, what's the surprise?" Bridget asked, her voice bright with excitement.

Simon moved out of the way and revealed Alena holding two squirming black and white puppies. "Surprise!" Alena squealed. "They're puppies from one of Maverick and Heidi's dogs, and what better way to celebrate than us each adopting one!"

Bridget clapped her hands and bounced up and down before retrieving one of the puppies from Alena's arms. The little puppy yipped excitedly and crawled up Bridget's chest to give her tons of kisses on her face.

"He's just the cutest thing ever." Bridget beamed at me, her smile widening, and the warmth in her gaze hit me in the face like wildfire.

Mav laughed. "Simon reached out and said he was looking for somewhere to adopt a dog, and I let him know Pepper was expecting. These two were the last ones left after some of my ranch hands adopted the others."

"What kind of puppy is he?" Bridget asked as she cooed more at the small puppy.

"German Shepherd." Mav grinned. "Well, a mix of German and King Shepherds. Great farm dogs. I'll get you in touch with the trainer we use, too."

I held out my hand for Mav to shake, and he took it with a warm smile. It felt good to have our friend back in our lives. "Is Pepper related to King and Queen?" King and Queen were their dogs when we were teens.

"Their daughter. So you know these two little ones come from a great line of dogs." Mav reached over and scratched the puppy's head in Bridget's arms.

"Thank you, Maverick." Bridget handed me the still-squirming pup and reached out to give Mav a brief hug.

Brief because she knew we'd growl if it went on too long.

"You're welcome." A strange note of sadness entered Mav's eyes as he glanced at Heidi as she animatedly spoke to Alena. "My mom loved the dogs. She never set out to become a breeder because of the negative associations, so we just kinda let nature happen, and now we've had three generations of pups. She would have been so happy to see all the joy they brought."

I placed a hand on my friend's shoulder. "Her memory lives on in all the lives she touched."

Gloria had passed away just a few days ago, shortly after James and I had taken Bridget to meet her.

Raw agony rolled through me. It was like losing Mom all over again.

But Gloria hadn't wanted us to be sad or mourn her for too long. Much like my mom, she wanted us to live our lives and enjoy each and every day.

I tucked Bridget under my arm and kissed the top of her head. The pup crawled back over to his new momma and snuggled against her chest. The little pup was damn smart. He knew who would love on him the most.

Although I had a feeling Lucas would spoil him just as much.

"Dinner's ready!"

Speak of the devil, Lucas appeared and tossed the towel over his shoulders. He eyed the puppy curled up against Bridget's chest and clapped his hands. "They're here! Darlin', you'll have to think of a good name for him."

My mouth hung open. "You knew?"

Lucas nodded with a twinkle in his eyes. "Yep. Simon checked with me, and we arranged everything."

James shook his head and growled playfully. "Brat."

"You know it," Lucas stuck his tongue out at James before swatting him with his towel. "Now go. Dinner time."

As we moved toward the area Lucas had turned into a dining room, with a table that could fit fifteen people comfortably, a sense of content calmness swept through me.

I never expected my life to turn out this way, and never in a million years did I ever expect to be so happy.

But here we were. A beautiful omega. The perfect pack. A home that would only grow with more love and happiness.

Life was perfect, and I wouldn't change a thing about it.

THE FREAKING END.
