Page 20 of Justice
At this idea, Talon raised brows.
I shook my head. “Brother, you don’t need to—”
“I do!” he snapped. “I’ve been looking out for your scholarly ass all my life.”
Redemption laughed.
Talon looked back and forth at us.
“He has,” Redemption said. “Ever since he was 8 years old.”
“Well, this time,” I said. “You will have to let me—”
“No,” Liberty cut me off. “I go where you go.” He looked over at Talon.
“It will be cramped as all hell,” Talon warned him.
“I don’t care,” Liberty said.
“Well, I do,” I cut in. “I don’t want to be cheek to cheek with you!”
“Well, too bad, Justice boy,” Liberty retorted. “You are there to back Scarlet up and I will be there to back you up.”
I kept shaking my head.
“He might be right,” Liv spoke up. “We don’t know how many men will be at the exchange.”
“Also, I need to caution you,” Talon interjected. “Don’t make a move to grab Belle. We will be doing that. You two will protect Scarlet. We will move in to get Belle.”
“But we don’t know who will be there or how many,” Scarlet pointed out.
“She has a good point there,” Liberty said. “We don’t know if they are gonna be legit about this at all.”
Scarlet looked over at him. “You mean like they might not even bring her?”
I shrugged. “We don’t know yet, do we? These are drug dealers or even if they aren’t, they work for Deacon. Nothing he does is legit, Scarlet.”
She bit at her lip and looked worried.
I squeezed her hand. “We have no way of knowing, babe. So I have to agree with Liberty for once. The more backup, the better.”
Liberty beamed at me.
“Nah, don’t smile at me, Lib,” I said. “You aren’t gonna like this supposed car ride tomorrow and neither will I.”
Redemption chuckled.
Talon and Liv looked over at him.
Shrugging, he said, “This debate club, head to head thing has gone on for a long ass time.”
“Like Dagger and Hawk.” Liv grinned.
“Only they aren’t twins,” Redemption explained. “Fate is Liberty’s twin.”
“Brothers just the same,” Talon said. “I have had more scraps with my Walker brothers than with any men in my life.”
“And that is the way it’s supposed to be,” Liberty said as he grinned at him.
