“Oh.” I’d always assumed it was Zane who instigated things between him and Duncan.
“Do you love him?”
“Yeah, but I love all my pack mates. Like brothers. With Zane there’s a sexual attraction too.”
“And is it weird, me being in this too?”
“Nah, Rosie, it feels better.”
I hum, the heat in my cheeks fading and a satisfaction spreading through my chest.
“But I don’t know what this is going to mean for our pack,” he says, and I hear the honesty, the concern in his voice.
And just like that, the warmth in my chest seeps away.
I know this could all end.
Chapter 16
We wanna take you out tonight, me and Duncan.Zane messages me.
It’s a Monday!I reply.
Just for dinner.
I smile. He knows I’m a sucker for good food.
OK but I’m tutoring until eight in the library.
Duncan will meet you there.
I spend the entire day wondering what a double date with two alphas will be like. I can’t help thinking it will be good. They’ve never been competitive or jealous with me. They are always attentive, and having them both there means I get twice the amount of attention. Something I find I like.
Several times I find my mind wandering away as I sit through my lectures and then my tutoring sessions, and the last of my students has to call my name several times to catch my attention.
Duncan’s perching on a low wall beneath a lamppost, a book folded in his lap, when I leave the library. I’m standing right by him when he finally catches my scent and looks up at me.
“Good book?” I ask him.
He lifts it up to me and shows me the cover, an illustration of spaceships and aliens sprawls the cover.
“I’m surprised you can read. It’s so dark out here,” I say.
“We alphas have good night vision.”
It makes sense. I’d wondered how they’d managed to find the right spots in the pitch blackness of Zane’s room.
He stares at me and I realise he’s waiting for me to make the first move. I suspect this alpha is a little shy.
I sidle up to him, standing between his thighs, and he lifts my chin and kisses me.
“We missed you last night,” he says, gliding his hands down to my arse and squeezing.
“We?”
“I. I missed you.” He squeezes harder. “I’m not tagging along for the ride here, Rosie. I’m very much into you. And would be whether Zane was in the picture or not.”
“Same,” I confess. Then I frown. “Is that the way it should be? That wouldn’t upset Zane?”
