First of all, it’s been less than a day since my parents headed home and I flew out, and I’ve received no less than fourteen texts from my mom gushing about you.

DANAE

If you could have a lifetime supply of any one thing, what would it be?

You’re not allowed to say new books.

DANAE

Think outside the box. Or should I say the pages.

DANAE

Just proving I have what it takes in the Dad jokes department. I learned from the best.

Snow days.

ME

As in, actual play in the snow days? Or snow days in the school schedule that you don’t have to make up?

DANAE

Both. I’d need the unlimited days in the schedule so that I could choose to have an actual day in the snow with you and Jason anytime I want.

ME

I love it.

DANAE

I should clarify that the majority of these snow days would include me reading by the fireplace while you continue to play outside with Jason after my very short stint in the snow. With my lifetime supply of new books.

ME

If you could have any food be calorie-free so you could eat it any time, even when you’re training, what would it be?

ME

Oooo, probably chips and queso. Definitely.

Hey, I wanted to ask you something else. Don’t say no right away.

DANAE

ME

Sorry, forgot to lead with nothing’s wrong. I have a request that I know knee-jerk Danae would not say yes to. So please reserve judgment until I’ve fully pled my case.

DANAE

I’ll make a concerted effort. This is not the best start, though.

ME

I want you to take off work on Thursday and pull Jason out of school.

DANAE

You have an uphill battle ahead of you.

ME

I know, I know. But we have one day off with no game on Thursday after we get home from this series before we start our stretch of home games.

I’ll still have training in the morning, but I want to take Jason to do something fun together.

And Sam wants to hang out with you by herself for the day.

She has something special planned and specifically asked to take you with her.
