MASE
He knew.
I turned right and gunned the engine.
When I arrived, I spotted her bike laid down next to the curb. Her cut lay on top of it. I climbed off my bike and ran over to it.
I fell to my knees and clutched her cut to my chest.
He took her.
The despair turned to blinding rage in five seconds flat.
I told you shit always happened. The life of a biker was filled with unpredictable chaos.
However, they hadn’t seen the type of shit I was about to rain down on them for messing with what was mine.
I heard the rumble half way down the street.
A group of bikes rolled up onto the scene a few minutes later. Four of them from what I could discern. Followed by a truck.
I pulled my piece out of my waistband, stood, and drew down on them.
The face at the head of the group almost made me drop my gun.
“Whoa,” Derrick held his hands up. YoYo, Joey and Red were lined up behind him. “Put the gun down, Mase.”
They all wore their cut, except Derrick. He’d given up his colors when he took off three years ago. To see him, now, fucked with my brain.
“What the fuck are you doing here?” I aimed the gun right between his eyes. “Where’s Gracie?”
“That’s why we’re here.” Red got off his bike.
“We knew your dad was still doing business with the Vipers. One of them came by the club last week and said they saw you in Jersey City. Pres has had you followed ever since.”
“How did you know?” Their words were not making sense.
“Because he called me to follow you.” Derrick said.
I raised the gun back up to eye level.
Derrick stiffened.
Joey stood in front of him.
“Mess.” He yelled. “A lot of shit went down when you left. And when you came back, we thought things would get back on track, but you were so consumed with finding out who killed Mattie.”
“I know who killed Mattie,” I said.
I kept my gun trained on him.
“I’m sorry.” Derrick said.
I blinked.
“It wasn’t supposed to go down like that.” Derrick stepped out from behind Joey. His face was red and splotchy.
