I hoped having Cason and I back in his life gave him a new reason to exist.

The waiter brought us the check. Mase reached for it, but I snatched it off the table.

“You got us a room?”

I tilted toward him.

He leaned in and kissed the spot below my earlobe.

A shiver traveled up and down my spine.
