“What?”
He stood up, walking closer to me.
“Katie told me everything, from the very beginning. Her fourteenth birthday to that day you went down. She didn’t leave out a single detail. Which you are a fucking asshole. I’m really hoping that all the shit you told me when you guys visited you made up.”
Fighting back a laugh, it surprised me she would have told her brother that much about our time together. Shrugging, I didn’t say a word. There was no need to dig myself further down into the hole I was already in with him.
“Yeah, if you’re going to be sleeping with my sister, I do not need to know. If you really love her, I can live with that, but hearing about her sex life, I’ve thrown up over the details I know about that already.”
My stomach dropped. The way he assumed she was going to be in my bed ever again was a fantasy. I wasn’t even sure how I was going to face her. Despite my longing to hold her in my arms again and taste her on my lips, I had been doing my best to stay grounded. There was a high likelihood that would not happen. Everyone was so certain she would just run back to me, but they didn’t know her like I did. I had hurt her in ways they couldn’t imagine.
“Asher, I don’t think you have to worry about that. She’s probably never going to speak to me again. Honestly, I don’t know if she should even know I was here. I’ve hurt her enough. She deserves to move on, don’t you think?”
Shoving my hands into my pockets, I wasn’t sure where to go from here. The bubbling of regret gnawed at my stomach.
“Nate, you’re a fucking idiot.”
Bridget finally got up off the couch and walked over to me as she spoke.
“Wow Bridget, don’t sugar-coat it for me or anything.”
Smacking me upside my head, she scoffed.
“She is still in love with you. You know it just as much as we all do. If you still love her and you want her back, then you need to not be a little bitch and go get her. I know I have told you a million times to forget her and move on, but clearly you don’t listen. So, open your ears right now because I’m going to tell you what to do and this time you’re going to do it, got it?”
Her hand was on her hip as she talked to me.
“Two words. Grand gesture. You know she’s obsessed with romance novels and what happens in all of them right? The man always has an over-the-top way of showing her she is the most important person in his life and he can’t live without her. That is what she deserves. That is what you are going to give her.”
