His eyebrows shoot up as he leans in to speak into my ear.
“If you’re trying to make Asher jealous, it won’t work.”
“What if I’m just looking for some fun?” I whisper back.
Liam stares at me for a moment, like he doesn’t quite believe me, before he grins.
“Then you’ve come to the right place.” He winks.
I roll my body into him again, his hold on me tightening before none other than Skyla fucking Parris comes storming up to all of us. She takes a piece of paper and balls it up, hitting Asher in the head with it. Him and Mercy break apart as he looks up at Skyla with a bored expression.
“What the hell is this?!” she shouts.
He doesn’t look down, just stares at her as he speaks dryly.
“Looks like a note.”
Then I see her. Maggie comes rushing behind Skyla, pulling on her like she’s begging her to retreat. I don’t know why I do it, but I practically fly out of Liam’s lap. Like I’ve just been caught doing something I shouldn’t. Which makes zero sense, obviously. She doesn’t even look at me for a few seconds, but when she does, a hardened look flashes in her eyes before she faces her new bestie.
Liam reaches down, unfolding the piece of paper as he begins reading it out loud to everyone.
“To my dearest fiancée. I hope your dreams are as wet as your pillow.”
He grins before looking over at Asher. He shakes his head as his smile grows.
“You didn’t,” he says.
Asher shrugs. “Don’t know what you’re talking about.”
A cackle escapes Liam as he jumps to his feet, squealing like a little girl and bouncing around. Skyla glares at him and he quiets a bit as Mercy speaks up.
“What did he do?”
Asher smirks. “I left her a little…morning delight on her pillow this morning.”
Morning de…
Oh my god.
A laugh rips through me, and a second or two later, it hits all the other girls. We are all practically in tears. Well, not the same kind that the little baby bitch is crying. Holy shit, I can’t believe he would do that! Why does that feel so good to know he treats everyone like shit? It doesn’t feel nearly as personal now.
My phone buzzes in my pocket and I pull it out to see that I’ve been included in a mass email sent to the entire school’s directory with a picture of…OH. MY. GOD.
A sleeping picture of Skyla, with a cum stain on her pillow, followed by the note beside it, has been sent to every student and faculty on campus. I look up from my phone to see Maggie wrapping her arm around Skyla, shooting us all a vile look before shaking her head and holding her closer.
Jealousy stabs through me. I don’t like how close they seem to be getting. It’s only a matter of time before Maggie makes a move on her, or maybe Skyla initiates. Either way, one taste of Maggie, one time with her, and she’ll never let her go.
Chapter Nineteen
Maggie
It’s been a few days since the bullshit pillow thing Asher pulled. God, have I mentioned before how much I hate Asher Putnam? He’s the biggest prick. Ever. Period.
I tried to comfort Skyla and offered to get her out of there, but she said she wanted to be alone and took off. The next day, she seemed fine, and I figured it wasn’t worth pushing. For such a kind person, she sure knows how to ruffle some feathers, though. To be fair, that has ninety-nine percent to do with the family she was born into and what her father has promised on her behalf. Still, to have a Putnam as your enemy is not a great way to start a new school year.
She’s even off to a bad start with Vincent Griggs, the school’s resident psycho. That guy watches her like he’s plotting her murder every two seconds. I don’t think she realizes how much he’s actually around. I feel like every time I turn around, he’s there glaring at her. I’ve said it before, not much scares me. Griggs does, though. He scares the fuck out of me.
He’s an eliminator for the Brethren. Or at least, I assume so. His parents were, and he seems to have inherited their same cold and calculated demeanor. As a legacy, he will one day become one of the Elders, and based on how often he misses classes, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Brethren has already put him to work. Yeah, Sky needs to be careful with that one.
