Page 26 of Deliverance
“I love rainbows.” I flirt shamelessly, earning an irritated noise from the other side of the couch.
All eyes are on Bridgette as she shrugs her shoulders.
“No offense, it’s just kind of a dumb name.”
“Ay, easy, Bridgey. She’s cool.” Brad intervenes.
Rain doesn’t seem bothered as she turns her attention back to me.
“What are you guys up to?”
“We were just hanging out. What about you all?” I ask.
Trip, the six-foot dudebro who looks like he just stumbled his way here from a frat party grins.
“We’re getting fucked up tonight! You guys in?” he asks.
“Let me guess, beer pong and quarters?” I ask.
His mouth opens in shock, like he can’t believe I got it right.
“Whoa, how’d you guess?”
I can’t help but laugh and nod. “I’m in. Where we setting up?”
“Game room upstairs,” Brad says as everyone begins heading there.
Bridgette and I are the last to head up, and she grabs my hand, yanking it sharply.
“What the fuck was that?” she hisses.
I furrow my brows. “What was what?”
“You were flirting with that hippie skank!” she seethes.
“So? You don’t want anyone to know about us, right?”
She screws up her face. “There is no us!”
I nod. “So, wouldn’t it be weird if I didn’t flirt with a woman who was obviously into me?”
Bridgette rolls her eyes.
“Please, you think everyone wants you. You can’t have any woman you want, Maggie.”
I lift a challenging brow.
“You willing to bet on that?”
She shakes her head. “You’re dumb.”
With that, she struts off upstairs, more like stomps off. I know she’s being a brat, but her skirt flips up a little bit with each stomp so you won’t hear me complaining.
When we get up to the game room, the ping pong table has already been set up for beer pong. Eric and Kylie are sitting on the couch making out while Brad fills up the cups with beer and puts a movie on in the background. Bridgette immediately sidles up next to Trip, resting her hand on his chest.
“Can I be on your team?” She smiles up at him through her thick eyelashes.
The big oaf couldn’t get a bigger smile on his face as he loops an arm around her waist.
