“No.”
“Then why are you tense?”
“I can’t say it here. Please.”
He gently pulls out of me and rightens his pants before slipping my panties back up. I stand up on shaky legs as Mikhail pulls me into his arms. It feels nice to be comforted by him.
“What is it?” he asks.
I glance at Lucy and back at him. “I don’t want to say.”
“Say it.” His tone means there’s no discussion.
“I don’t like Lucy telling me what to do. Or hearing her opinions on us.”
When I glance at Lucy, I can see I offended her.
“You seemed to enjoy it,” Lucy says with a scoff.
I grip Mikhail’s shirt. “Please. I only want you.”
“I understand,” he says as his eyes soften. “I like that you only want me to be in charge of you. But you offended Lucy. Say you’re sorry.”
“I apologize, Lucy. I didn’t mean to offend you. That’s why I didn’t want to say anything about it in front of you.”
Mikhail’s hand tightens on my waist. “Careful there.”
“I’m just speaking the truth.”
Lucy rolls her eyes. “I thought we were having fun. Sharing a moment. But I guess I was wrong.”
“Is there a problem here?” a man asks, entering the room. He’s a large muscular man. Almost as powerful as Mikhail but not quite.
“Nothing,” Lucy says, even though her entire demeanor shows that she’s upset.
The man turns to me and Mikhail. “Are you bothering this woman?”
“I come here all the time,” Mikhail says. “Are you one of the new guards? I’m Mikhail Novikoff.”
The man scoffs. “I don’t care who you are. You’re bothering this woman.”
“No, he wasn’t,” I say. “I was told to speak the truth and I did and Lucy didn’t like it. I’m sorry that I didn’t like you telling me what to do, Lucy. But it’s the truth and I’m allowed to feel this way.”
Lucy’s sneer grows. “We were enjoying the moment and you just ruined it.”
“She’s upset,” Mikhail explains. “Because my wife only wants me to be in command of her. Lucy isn’t taking it well. We’ll leave now.”
“You better,” the man says. “This isn’t a place to get into fights.”
Mikhail sucks in a sharp breath and turns to the man with a smile. “If you truly knew who I was, you wouldn’t be talking to me in this way.”
“You and your woman need to get out.” The man grabs my arm and hauls me towards the door.
I know it’s a huge mistake the moment it happens.
Mikhail punches the guard so hard, the man falls right to the ground. And then Mikhail starts beating the man up. Punching him over and over and over again.
“Mikhail, stop,” I whisper. Seeing him like this is terrifying. “Mikahil, please.”
