CALLI
Iawake with a start and immediately push my hands under the covers to feel if I’m dressed.
Alex is curled around me like a freaking spider monkey, snoring deeply in my ear. The last thing I need is for him to wake up and realise his cock is pressed against my bare arse.
I breathe a sigh of relief when I find my trousers are exactly where they were when I passed out.
But that doesn’t mean he wasn’t here.
I know he was. I feel him.
Goosebumps prick my skin, and I force my eyes open to look for him. But I’m flooded with disappointment when I don’t find him beside me, and when I push to sit up, I discover the rest of the tipi is empty, too.
“Go back to sleep, baby C,” Alex groans, dragging me back down. “I like you, you’re warm,” he mutters sleepily, making me laugh. Although, it makes my heart hurt.
He has no idea that while he was sleeping peacefully, his brother was here…
My temperature soars as I lie there, my heart racing with the memory of waking to find his head between my thighs.
For the briefest second, my alcohol-fuelled brain thought it was Alex. But I quickly realised that, A, that’s not his style, and B, there surely was only one person on this planet who could play me as if I’m his personal instrument like Daemon can.
“I need to pee,” I say, desperately needing to get out of Alex’s arms and attempt to get my head on straight.
He growls but releases me.
Reluctantly, I push to the edge of the bed and swing my legs over. My thighs pull, just a little reminder of what happened last night. But that’s nothing to the shock that rocks through me when my eyes land on a small origami bat sitting on my bedside table.
Reaching out, I wrap my fingers around the perfectly folded black paper, hiding it from Alex.
My cheeks blaze with heat at the hazy memory and I still, squeezing my eyes closed as I try to force it out.
“Cal, is everything okay?” Alex asks. His concern tugs at my chest. I am the worst person, the worst friend in the world.
Glancing back over my shoulder, I meet his sleepy eyes, my heart only pounding harder at the concern I see there.
His eyes narrow and his brow furrows as he studies me, as if my sins are written on my skin for him to read.
“Y-yeah,” I stutter, my stomach turning over with a mix of last night’s alcohol and fear.
I should just tell him the truth. If both of us can trust anyone, then it’s Alex. He and Daemon literally shared a womb. They’re more than trustworthy of each other’s secrets.
But when my lips part, those aren’t the words that fall out.
“I’m just a bit hungover.”
“You know what you need?” he says, dragging himself so he’s sitting against the headboard, the covers draped over his waist and putting his sculpted chest on full display for me to drink in.
“Do not say your cock for breakfast,” I blurt, much to Alex’s amusement if his barked laugh and wide smile is anything to go by.
“Well,” he laughs, “now that you mention it…” He shifts his hands as if he’s about to shove the covers lower, and I jump up like my arse is on fire. “I’m joking, Cal. I know it’s not like that with us.”
His words make me pause, and I can’t help but find his eyes once more.
I swear I see something within them.
Does he know?
Did we wake him last night?
