CHAPTER SEVEN

DESTINY

I t had been several weeks since classes started and Destiny was finally feeling like she had a grip on things. It had been rough trying to find a routine that worked for her, but she finally had the perfect one.

Class days, Destiny would get up and get ready for class as always. Once her classes were done, she would grab a chai tea latte from the coffee cart she found, before heading over to the library where she would spend the rest of her afternoon doing class work.

If she didn't have class, she would take her time in the morning just relaxing in the dorm before taking a walk through the mini garden that was on campus. Eventually, she found herself at the library once more sitting in what she had officially deemed her spot.

Sometimes she would do school work, sometimes she would just sit and read, others she would act like she was busy and not spending her afternoon staring at the head librarian. Destiny couldn't deny that the best part of her day was spent exchanging conversation with Jackson.

It was crazy that she was crushing on a man who was over ten years older than her, but he had been nothing but nice to her since she stepped into the library that first day. Jackson always made sure to bring over a small bottle of water and a piece of chocolate every time she was in there.

She was going to gain so much weight if he kept bringing her sweets, but Destiny didn't mind. It was always exciting to see what candy he brought her each time. Pulling the strap a little higher on her shoulder, Destiny took a deep breath before opening the door and slipping inside the library.

Looking at the front desk, she couldn't help but feel a little happy that Jackson's face lit up when he saw her walking in. She headed to her spot giving him a little wave as she passed by. Destiny was ahead in all her classes, so she had decided to sit and read her book today.

“Well, hello there, pretty lady. I’m so excited to see you here today.”

“Hi Jackson! I figured I might get some fresh air instead of staying in my dorm all day.”

"Is Jessa going to be here today too?"

That was the other thing that made Destiny crush on Jackson a little more. He always asked about her sister.

"I don't know for certain. I know she has class this morning with Dr. West, so she might come here after." A look crossed Jackson’s face, but he quickly masked his expression before Destiny had a chance to question him on it.

Today was Friday and Destiny knew that it was her sister's favorite day of the week. Jessa was often talking about her teacher and had admitted that she too had a crush on someone who was more than ten years older than her.

What a pair they made, but both knew that they wouldn't act upon any of it. Even if it wasn't the fact that they were older than the girls, but they worked at the college and that would have been frowned upon.

"Well, I'll be over there if you need anything. I'll come check on you soon.”

Destiny nodded at Jackson’s words before watching him turn and walk off. Pulling out her Kindle, she pulled up the latest book she was reading.

She loved finding new books to read, but right now she was obsessed with age play books. Reading about other Littles who were actually in the lifestyle made her feel a little less like an outsider.

Right now she was reading a new release by one of her favorite authors and hadn’t gotten very far into it before she had to go to bed last night. Tuning out the world around her, Destiny zoned into the book, putting all thoughts out of her mind.

The chair beside her pulled out as Jackson sat down beside her, pulling her away from the story that was unfolding on her Kindle. She glanced over and grinned at him as he slid a bottle of water and a peanut butter cup in front of her before opening his own.

“Hi Little girl, I figured I would take a few minutes to come and chat with you. You’ve been pretty engrossed in the book you are reading.”

Biting into the candy, she nodded her head at his statement. The story that she was reading was just starting to get really good. The Little in the story was planning a prank on her soon-to-be Daddy and Destiny couldn’t wait to see it unfold.

“Care to share what book you’re reading today?”

Destiny’s heart began to race as she tried to come up with any answer besides the truth. No way was she fixing to admit to this man that she was reading an age play book.

“I think I’ll keep the title a secret a little bit longer. I wouldn’t want to recommend something that isn’t good to you. So I’ll just wait till I’m done with it.”

She held her breath waiting for his reaction. Her heart calmed when a small smirk formed across his face.

“Okay Little one, I’ll let you keep your secret. For now that is. I want to know the name though when you finish it and deem it good enough for me to read.”

“Sure, I can do that Jackson.”

They fell into comfortable silence eating the rest of their chocolate.

“So, what brings you to this college, Des? Why did you pick IMU?”

“I actually didn’t. Jessa applied to this college for me. I didn’t know anything about it until we got the acceptance letters in the mail.”

“She did what?”

Destiny’s eyes widened. Maybe she shouldn’t admit that her sister committed a crime by applying to IMU for her.

“Uh, let’s just forget that I said that. I totally wanted to come to IMU, it was my top choice.”

“Don’t you lie to me, Little girl. We both know that wasn’t what you said.”

Her face warmed at being called out by Jackson. She doesn’t know what came over her to try and lie to him about the situation. Destiny had never been good and lying, so it made sense that right now wouldn’t have been any different.

“Ugh, fine. Yes, Jessa sent in the application for me without me knowing, but she had a good reason.”

“It better be a really good one. It’s naughty to lie and commit fraud. Y'all could have gotten into huge trouble if you had been found out about.”

Destiny noticed that he said ‘if they had been found out about’. That meant he wasn’t going to report them, right?

“See, we have an older sister that lives in this town. Our parents kicked her out when she was almost done with high school because of some, uh, differences between them.”

Hoping that he didn’t pick up on her stumbling over her words, she quickly continued.

“Apparently, she lives here now with her husband and Jessa thought that this would be the perfect way to get here and reconnect with our sister. It also gave us a reason to get away from our parents for, uh, the same differences.”

“So, let me get this straight. Jessa signed you up for this college just so that you both could get to know your sister better.”

“Yep.”

“As much as I don’t agree with the route that she took, I am glad that she did because now you are here and I got to meet you.”

Destiny felt a blush rush across her cheeks. She quickly glanced away so that he wouldn’t see it.

“No no no. Don’t turn away from me now, Little girl. Let me see your beautiful face.”

She felt his finger touch her face as he turned her back towards him.

“There’s that pretty face. I meant what I said. I'm glad that I got to meet you and that you are here.”

She nodded her head “I’m glad that I’m here too.”

“I want to get to know you, Destiny. I enjoy your company and would love to get to know more about you, Little one.”

“There really isn’t much worth learning. I’m a homebody who keeps to herself. You should spend time doing something else.”

She heard Jackson grumble at her words, responding, “Don’t talk about yourself like that, Destiny. Let me decide how I spend my time because I know that I wouldn’t be wasting it getting to know you.”

Destiny nodded as he continued to speak.

“Be a good Little girl now and finish your book. I’ll come check on you again here in a little bit.”

“Yes, Sir!”

“I love hearing sir fall from your lips, but one day I hope that you will call me something different.” Jackson stated before turning and leaving her to her thoughts.

Destiny didn’t have a clue what he meant by his statement, but she didn’t have time to think about it. The characters in the book she was reading are calling out to her to continue their story.

Picking up her book, she continued to dive in and get lost in her own little world.

Destiny turned off her Kindle and placed it on the table in front of her. Jackson hadn’t returned yet before she finished the book.

Glancing at the time on her phone, she noticed that it was almost time for Jess to get out of class. Wanting to get there before she was released, Des quickly stuffed her things back into her bag before gathering her trash and heading towards the exit.

“Desi wait a second. Let me walk you out.” Jackson stated as he walked to where she was standing besides the trash can.

“Oh, there’s no need for that.”

“I know that I don’t need to, but I want to. I didn’t get a chance to make it back over to you, so humor an old man would you?”

Destiny scoffed at his statement. He wasn’t that old. He looked barely over thirty.

She let him turn and direct her towards the front doors and shivered when he placed his hand on her lower back. She didn’t want to admit how right it felt to have his hand there on her.

“So, did you finish your book, Little one?”

“I did!”

“And? Are you going to tell me the name so I can read it?”

Shaking her at him, she grinned. She wasn’t telling him the title just yet. She needed time to come up with a different answer.

“Okay Desi. I’ll let you keep your secret just a little bit longer, but next time you’re here I want a title.”

“Sure Jackson, I’ll tell you then.”

He grinned down at her answer as they stopped by the door. Turning towards him, Destiny looked up ready to say goodbye when Jackson surprised her by pressing a quick kiss against her forehead.

“You be a good Little girl now and I’ll see you later.”

Waving goodbye, Des slipped out the door making her way towards the building her sister's class is in. She glanced down at her phone again and noticed that she only had five minutes before Jessa got out.

Quickening her pace, she made it to the building just as students started pouring out the double doors. Not seeing her sister, Des slipped inside and walked in the direction of the classroom.

Stopping short when she heard a deep voice speak, Destiny stood just outside the doorway and listened in.

“Did you enjoy today’s class Jessa?”

“Oh I really did. I can’t wait to take the information you covered and apply it to my brother-in-law’s company. You gave a lot of information that I think will help in my final project.”

“What company did you say your brother-in-law owned?”

Des heard Jessa giggle before replying “I didn’t. He’s the CEO of Tech Port. His name is Emmett.”

There was a quick cough before, “Oh, okay, I’m familiar with them,” was gruffed out. Deciding to finally make her presence known, Destiny knocked on the door frame before stepping inside.

“Hey Jess! Are you ready to go?”

“Yep! We can grab some lunch on our way back to the dorm.”

A throat cleared behind her sister as a blush creeped down her face. “I’m so sorry, how rude of me. Dr. West, this is my twin sister, Destiny.”

“It’s a pleasure to meet you,” Des stated as she gave a little wave.

Dr. West turned towards where she stood rooted to the ground, “The pleasure is mine. Now, y’all run along now. Jessa I look forward to our next class together.”

Destiny watched as once again her sister's face turned a bright shade of red before she heard her mumble out a quick, “me, too.” Letting Jess pull her into the hallway, the twins busted out into giggles as they made their way towards their dorms.
