He spun to let Trix clean his back, opening his eyes to see how his men were handling everything. Carver's heart dropped as he saw a face he didn't expect to.
Gideon was in the room.
Why the fuck was his boy there? Who had brought him? Had he ridden someone's bike or did someone bring him in a car? The thought of his boy riding with someone else made Carver angry enough to want to revive Gator to go at him again.
The answer to his questions came when he saw Fury step in front of Gideon, his back to Carver as he spoke to the sweet boy.
Carver worried what came next. His boy had never seen him angry that way. He didn't know the violence that Carver possessed.
Would he still want to be with him? Or was Carver too scary? Would he see the protectiveness behind Carver's actions? Or would Gideon only recognize the monster within him?
Trix finished before he could overthink it. “All done, Boss.”
Carver took a deep breath, clearing his thoughts about his boy to focus on the next steps. "I want a crew to clean this all up and burn his body. All his possessions should be burned as well. Traitors to the Angels get no remorse from me.”
With that, Carver stomped out of the warehouse through a side door. The second he hit fresh air, he dropped to his knees. His hands went to the ground, and he gulped for air.
If his boy hated him after this, he didn't know what he would do. At the same time, the relief he felt from letting his anger loose was instantaneous. The ache and pain he'd been pressing down as to not blow up on anyone was gone.
He was back to just being Carver, that dark part of him sated.
But he knew it would return. He knew it would rise up again and again.
If his boy stuck around, he would see it. The question was, would he want him anyway?
Thirty-One
Gideon satin the passenger seat as Fury drove back to the club. He wasn't quite sure what to make of what he had just witnessed.
That was a lie.
He knew how what he had seen made him feel. Knew that Carver's strength and dedication to the club was exciting to watch. It made him feel more than he ever had.
His reaction to it all wasn’t only from the raw power that came with the violence. It was the passion Carver presented.
The big man believed the Angels were family. And for someone to hurt that family, to steal from them, was a crime punishable by a very, very painful looking death.
At first, Gideon wasn't sure if he should have been there. He had pulled on Fury's arm when Carver began speaking. The pair was tucked away in the back of the group in an effort to hide. They didn't want to distract Carver.
Fury said he knew that the boss would be upset with Gideon there, but that he needed to see this. His reasoning was because Fury knew Carver always worried people would see his darkness as a bad thing.
“Do you understand him better now?” Fury asked as he drove.
Gideon nodded, his eyes moving to look out of the window. They passed trees upon trees. He marveled at the varying shades of green. He didn't realize all of this was right outside of the club.
A part of him wanted to go exploring through them. He wanted to lay down beneath one and take a nap. To embrace nature.
Yet he didn't know how he could do such a thing. He would surely get lost if he ventured out on his own. And asking one of the Angels to guide him seemed silly.
They had better things to do.
He could ask Carver.
That required actually having a conversation with the other man. He still wasn't sure how to go about it all.
If he really looked deep down, he could admit to himself he did know. He just wasn’t brave enough.
Maybe it was time to channel all the courage he had into it. Talking to Carver would get him closer to what he truly wanted.
