“See you later,” I say to Elliot as we turn to leave.
“That was so much fun,” Enoch says grinning at me. “I don’t think there was one bit I didn’t like.”
“I could have done without the singing cherubs,” Justice says. “That song is just wrong.”
“At least you didn’t have theBaby Sharksong,” Adhan says.
By this time, we have reached the pumpkin carving station. All the pumpkins are on display, in different age groups. The area is crowded with children eager to see if they have won, and parents wondering how they can console their children if they didn’t win.
“How will you choose the winners?” I ask him.
“I already did,” he tells me.
“And that’s why you’re good at all this. Go do your thing.”
He drops a kiss on my head and walks to the front.
I see my parents come and stand next to me, Pa is carrying Connie and Nora is stood at their side.
I pluck Connie out of his arms and hug her to me before turning her around so she can see what’s going on.
I see Enoch and Xander come over and join us with Enoch leaning against Pa. Pa smiles down at him and puts his arm around his shoulders.
Adhan announces the winners and everyone claps, the winners getting a bag of sweets, and then all the children collect their pumpkins. Everyone walks away happily, even the children that didn’t win.
Jude comes over to take his daughter back. Ma, Pa and the boys walk off somewhere and Adhan walks over to me, pulling me into his arms.
“This has been an amazing Halloween event,” I tell him. “Dark magic aside.”
“It has,” Adhan agrees. “I can’t wait to see how your show goes.”
“Me either. Whatever happens with it, it will be fun,” I say.
Fun and over the top and if it’s anything like this Halloween Farm, an event to remember. I mean this wouldn’t be Cadenbury if something strange didn’t happen.
The End.
