But now we are sat at the breakfast table. Alfred and I are opening the bookshop today and will leave in time for the opening.

“Is everyone ready for lunchtime?” Adhan asks generally.

He gets a round of yesses.

“We’re opening at twelve, so if you can all be at the farm by quarter to that would be great,” he says.

“I’m stopping off at the old Myers house to make sure all is okay. I’ll do it on the way to the farm,” Cam says.

“Good. It’s a shame that house is empty,” Adhan says.

“I’m not worried, the right people will come along for it soon enough,” Cam assures him.

“They will,” Adhan agrees.

I finish my toast and down my coffee, just as Alfred finishes his. “Right, we’re off and will see you later,” I say standing up and dropping a kiss on Adhan's head.

I look at Alfred who is busy saying goodbye to Justice. Honestly, you’d think they were parting for years instead of a few hours.

“Anytime now Alfred,” I say to him.

He ignores me and carries on kissing.

“So rude,” I say, shaking my head.

Finally, they pull back.

“Thanks, Al, Justice, you’ve now put me off my breakfast.” Cam playfully gripes.

“Sorry not sorry,” they both say at the same time, grinning at each other.

“Gah,” I say, walking around the table grabbing Alfred’s arm and pulling him up. “Say goodbye to Justice,” I tell him.

“I was,” Alfred grumps out.

“Bye everyone, see you all later,” I say, pulling Alfred along with me.

I’m notthe only one excited for today, everyone who comes into the bookshop can talk of nothing else. It’s going to be so much fun.

Pa arrives around half eleven and shoos us out of the shop. I’m going to drive Alfred, Nix and Sal to the farm, so we walk to Shattered Glass to collect them.

“Hey, Ma,” I say going to hug her. I wonder for a moment if I’ve told my parents how much I love them living in Cadenbury.

“Hello darling,” she says, hugging me back, before hugging Alfred. “Nix and Sal are just closing everything down.”

“Perfect,” I say, just as they walk out of the workroom. “Ready to go?” I ask them.

“Yep. Thanks, Jodie, see you later,” Nix says, hugging her.

“Bye Jodie,” Sal says, also hugging her.

Alfred also says ‘bye’ and hugs her.

“Bye Ma,” I say leaving with the others and we walk towards my car.

“Something weird happened today,” Nix says.

“What happened?” I ask.
