Spence:I think the short answer is no.

Corey:You do have eclectic tastes.

Spence:I like going to auctions and flea markets.

Corey:That explains it.

Spence:Am I a lost cause?

Corey:No. I’ll think of something. Give me a minute.

I’m happy to give him all the time he needs. I finish my breakfast and wash up the bowl. I could really do with taking a shower. Has Corey had a shower yet? He did say he’d just woken up, so probably not.

Corey:Untitled by Mark Rothko. He painted it between nineteen sixty and nineteen sixty-one. It was one of his colour field paintings.

Spence:Colour field?

Corey:Yeah, they all had large fields of flat solid colour. Untitled is orange with dark blue, which will match your furniture. It’s simple and eye-catching without being fussy.

I grab my laptop and do a search for the painting.

Spence:I like it. Thank you.

Corey:You’re welcome.

Spence:You thought of that off the top of your head?

Corey:LOL! No. I might be an art teacher, but I’m not a walking encyclopaedia of art. Google is amazing.

Spence:I wouldn’t have known where to start, so I’m still eternally grateful. I’m ordering a print of it right now.

Corey:Really?

Spence:Really. I’ll send you a photo when I’ve framed and hung it.

Corey:Plain black frame. Not too wide.

Spence:Noted.

Corey:I need to take a shower.

Spence:So do I.Care to come over to get hot and sweaty before taking a shower together?

Corey:I don’t have time.

Okay, that’s not exactly a no.

Spence:Later?

Corey:To be clear, you’re asking me to come over for sex?

Spence:Yes.

Corey:Tonight?

Spence:Sounds good to me. Come over at seven?

Corey:No. Wait. That’s not what I meant.
