When I walked into The Drunken Bucket, it was much more crowded than the other times I had been here. I feel a bit out of place with the younger crowd, but I don’t care. I’m not here to fit in. I came to find Lexi.

I was about to give up hope after not seeing her at the bar. With the thick crowd, I couldn’t see Lexi on my first scan of the place either. The bartender spotted me and pointed to the back of the place.

I muscle my way through the crowd and see the back of a woman at the corner table sitting with her friend. I know it’s Lexi from the curly hair thrown up into a clip. The sinful curve of her back leading to her perfectly round ass proves it’s her. I think I could spot that ass out of a line-up if I had to.

I say hello, and she looks up at me in surprise. My heart thuds as soon as our eyes meet. Her succulent lips part as they greet me, and my eyes trail further down to see her tits pushed together and lifted inside the halter top she’s wearing.

I can tell I’ve interrupted something with her friend, Melanie. I excuse myself to the bar, hoping everything is okay.

Ricky gives me a handshake as soon as he sees me.

“Did you talk to her?”

I nod. “I think her friend isn’t happy I’m here.”

“I’ll keep Melanie busy,” Ricky assures me. “We’ve been playing this flirting game long enough.”

“How long have you known these girls?”

“A couple of months. I don’t know them well, but they’re nice girls who generally keep to themselves. Other than you, I’ve never seen either of them leave here with a guy,” Ricky says with a laugh.

“I guess I should take that as a compliment then,” I smirk.

“I would if I were you.”

Ricky hands me a beer and assures me he’ll take care of the rest. The young bartender hasn’t steered me wrong so far. Sure enough, Ricky escorts Melanie away a few minutes later, leaving Lexi and me alone.

Not even ten minutes into our conversation, Lexi has me admitting I came to this bar to see her. It isn’t like I’m trying to hide it, but I usually play things a little more aloof with women. In my past experiences, as soon as a woman knows she has any hold over you, she takes advantage.

As I sit across from Lexi, looking at her youthful, gorgeous face, I know concealing anything from her is out the window. The feeling makes me both nervous and relieved.

“So, Lexi, all jokes aside,” I smirk. “What do you do?”

Her cheeks turn red, and she covers her face with her hand as she remembers her answer to that question when we first met.

“Sorry, I had a lot of vodka that night… in a short amount of time,” she admits.

The look on her face is utter embarrassment. I pull her hand away from her mouth and draw lazy circles across her palm as I smile at her. Something about her blushing so profusely makes me want her more.

“I hope you didn’t do anything you regretted.”

She smiles at me and shakes her head. “I didn’t mean that. That was some night,” she comments as she bites her bottom lip.

“Come home with me tonight.”

The words escape my lips, sounding more like a demand than a question or an offer. I wonder if I should apologize for being bold, or backtrack, but she answers before I can say anything.

“Okay,” she agrees, running her fingers lightly over my knuckles. “I’m an interior designer, by the way.”

“That seems fitting,” I say. “I can tell you have great taste.”

I wink at her, and she laughs. I love her laugh. It’s not phony or stifled. It’s bold and so New York.

“Did you grow up in Manhattan?” I wonder.
