Story: Wayward Souls
“Nah, this needs to be her decision,” I respond, nodding in Spencer’s direction.
“You got it boss.”
“Hey Riot,”
“Yeah?”
I clear my throat, “The girls?”
“Hannah got them in touch with her contacts, they’ll be well taken care of.”
Nodding my head in acknowledgement, he shifts to stir Zeke awake, and I turn to face the french doors.
Limping across the room, out to the balcony, I walk up behind Spencer, and grip the railing on either side of her. Pressing my lips to the top of her head, my heart swells as she leans backward into me.
“How are you feeling?” she asks, turning around to look up at me.
“Like death rolled over,” I grin.
“That’s not funny,” her face falls and she bites her lip.
“Hey,” I bend my index finger and lift her face up by the chin, “It’s over babygirl. It’s all done.”
“What if they come back? I know Riot said we were clear but…”
“They won’t,” I reassure her. “Hannah already assured us before this all went down, that she will make sure no one knows it was us that caused the chaos.”
“Hannah,” she snorts, “that is one badass bitch. I’ll give her that.”
“Yeah, she’s a good one to have on your side. I can’t even be mad at her for having one foot in and one foot out of the Brotherhood.”
Taking the coffee from Spencer’s hands, I set it down on the table beside her, running my hands down both of her arms.
“You know, I think I recall telling you not to leave the van.”
“You got shot Travis,” her glare burns my skin, and I’d be lying if I didn’t admit it turned me on a little. I don’t think I’ll ever tire of pissing her off every now and again.
“And, I’ll probably get shot again Spencer. It comes with the territory. I’ll always fucking come back to you though, do you understand me?”
“Promise?” she asks.
“Promise, promise,” I grin.
Pushing up on the tips of her toes, she wraps her arms around my neck and presses her lips to mine. Soft and plush, they catch me and I fall. Our lips and tongues move in tandem with the beating of our hearts, and I find myself wondering how I even survived all these years without her.
As our lips part, she hits me with a question that I knew deep down was coming.
“How did you and Riot find me? Like how did you know to come back here? I, I thought I’d be waiting a lot longer for you than I did.”
“Well,” I start, exhaling deeply as I run my hands down the stubble on my face, “I tracked you.”
“Tracked me?” her face screws up in confusion. “How did you…”
“The collar, I uh, I had Zeke put a chip in it.”
“Are you fucking kidding me? You motherfucker!” she slaps me on the shoulder of my uninjured arm.
“I knew you’d go do something stubborn,” I murmur, pulling her close, running my fingers down her spine. “Are you mad at me?”
