Story: Unfolding Kiara
Oh no.
The walls I had destroyed for him stood guarded when his eyes softened when they landed on me. He frowned when he saw the guarded expression on my face. The way he had been behaving for a while, I realized that he wanted more out of it.
My baby.
I shivered at the cold washing over my body. I couldn’t fall for him.
“What happened?” he asked when he placed two pillows underneath my legs. “Keep your legs elevated for a few minutes.”
Even though my resistance melted at his sweet actions, I couldn’t ignore the reality as I had done before. It would end up destroying me. Or worse, both of us. I couldn’t go through that again.
Shaking my head at his previous question, I covered my body with a blanket, “Nothing. I . . . I am tired, that’s all.”
He frowned, “Are you okay, Bella? Do you want a massage? Why didn’t you tell me you were—”
“Ethan,” I stopped him, “I am fine, just tired.”
He paused, turning around to give me a stunning view of his muscular back. I gazed at the way the slabs of muscles and prominent hard lines moved and tensed as he wore his boxers and pants. He looked at me, the air turning cold in the room as his gaze hardened.
“What do you want, Kiara?” he asked, his voice hard and devoid of any emotion.
“I want a baby.” I lied, my voice betraying my emotions.
He nodded to himself, “Right. I will see you tomorrow.”
With that sharp tone, he left, slamming the door shut behind him. I shivered and hugged the blanket. Somehow, I knew that even though we had talked about this earlier, tonight had changed everything between us. Even the deal of having his baby. With tears welling in my eyes, I fell asleep with his scent overpowering me.
