She cleared her throat and smoothly stepped out of her drawers. Korben bent down and snatched them, slipping them into his pocket.

“Sara?” Liliana’s eyes were wide.

“If you don’t mind, Korben and I will excuse ourselves now.”

“You didn’t answer the question,” her mate said wickedly.

“Korben, I need to see you. Alone.”

Emma rolled her eyes. “You guys are too obvious.”

“These walls are thin, brother!”

Korben didn’t bother responding to Clavas. He wrapped his fingers around Sara and pulled her to the back room. The moment he closed the door, she threw herself at him and kissed him deeply. When she pulled back for air, he smiled at her, playing with one of her curls.

“What?” she asked, tilting her head. From the way he’d been teasing her beneath the table, she’d expected him to pin her against the wall as soon as they were alone.

“Someone is impatient,” Korben growled.

“You’re the impatient one.”

“You seduced me at dinner. How could I resist when your hands were gripping me?”

“My hands?Youwere the one trying to impale me with your…” Her jaw dropped. “Wait. Did you just crack a joke?”

“You are rubbing off on me.”

“I’mfunnier than that,” she said.

Korben laughed softly and wrapped his arms around her.

Rising on the tips of her toes, Sara kissed him again. “And,” she nipped at his bottom lip, “when I rub on you, there’s not usually a lot of talking involved.”

He cracked another smile, his hands sweeping her neck, to her shoulders, to her chest.

Sara sighed. “You know, almost dying in a Heronas prison really puts things into perspective.”

He bent down and locked one hand below her knees. Lifting her into his arms, he cradled her close and walked with her to the sleeping mat. “Like?”

“My sister.”

Korben laid her down and cuddled beside her. His tail rested behind him, still wet at the tip. Though she could feel his desire for her, he rested his chin on his hands and listened.

“I wish she hadn’t made that choice. I really, really miss her.”

Korben made an understanding sound in his throat.

She rubbed his cheek. “And even though I’ll never forget her or earth, I won’t let the fear I had before cripple me. I’m going to be a better version of myself. I’m going to do that for Janet. For me.” She ran her fingers over his tattoos, her voice lowering to a husky whisper, “And for all the broods we’re going to have one day.”

“It doesn’t matter if we—”

“I know.” She bit down on her lip. “But I want to have kids with you, Korben.”

Sara didn’t think she was pregnant yet, but the way Korben kept pulling her aside at every possible opportunity, it wouldn’t be long before he impregnated her. She was ready for that commitment. She was ready for everything life with him would bring.

Korben’s lips found hers. “My heras.”

She sighed happily. “I love you, Korben.”

As he rolled her over, Sara peppered Korben with kisses. Her heart overflowed and she held on to him for dear life, soaking him in like rain—the good kind. With him by her side, she was ready to conquer her future.

She was Sara, Korben’s mate.

A warrior in her own right.

And she had found everything she’d been looking for on a distant planet in a galaxy far away.
