Page 97 of The Alien Warrior's Mate
“By the way, Ziag mentioned something to me.” Korben shared Ziag’s words with his brother. “It sounds like they’re planning something. Soon.”
Clavas nodded. “I figured they would make a move. In order to get to the lake, they have to incapacitate all Plutonian warriors.”
“I told him we will be ready,” Korben said.
“And we will.”
At that moment, Korben saw his mate beckoning him. “Let’s continue this discussion later.”
Clavas slanted him a knowing grin which he ignored.
Sah-ah approached him. “Leel-ean and Eema made some desserts using the ingredients Ga Eun gave us. Are you hungry?”
“Ravenous.” He kissed her forehead and escorted her inside.
Eyes twinkling, she whispered, “You are talking about food, right?”
“Yes.” He laughed, grazing his fingers over her hips. “For now.” Unable to resist, he pressed another kiss to her hair. “But if you’d rather I feast on something else…”
“Korben,” she whined.
“Yes, my heras?” He smirked at her.
“I refuse to bethatcouple.”
“What couple exactly?” He ran his fingers down her arm.
“The couple who’s always rubbing up on each other and flirting in public.” She gestured to Leel-ean and Eema who were deep in conversation around the table. Their chatter filled the air with warmth and peace. “If you want me, take me to the room.”
“Let’s go then.” He started to drag her away.
She laughed. “Korben!”
“Did you think I would be able to keep my hands off you after seeing you fight the Heronas?” He growled in her ear. “My heras, you will getnosleep tonight.”
She giggled. “Even more of a reason why we should eat now. We’ll need the energy.”
He stared at her and felt her warmth heavy on his mind. She was his mate and the most precious gift. He did not care whether she ever carried his brood. He did not care if she never birthed his young. All that mattered was Sah-ah safe, happy and in his arms.
Lans strode inside, waving his interface. “I just received a message from Pin and Zar. They have both located a human female.”
Sah-ah leaned into his chest. “Are they bringing them here?”
“It will take about three sun rotations.”
“Shall we stay here and meet them then?” Sah-ah asked.
“Whatever you want, my heras.”
Sah-ah smiled up at him. He gently soothed her shoulders, enjoying the way her eyelashes fluttered and her mouth softened with her contented sigh.
His Sah-ah looked fragile on the outside, but she could do anything she put her mind to. She was kind, brave and strong. A perfect mate. The perfect one for him. Korben took her hand in his. Protecting her was his purpose. Providing for her was his mission.
He was no longer aimless.
Finally, his heras had a home.
