Story: Love on Ice
“We don’t have to label anything …”
“Do this for me, Harper, be my girl,” he asks sweetly.
“Yes, fine,” I grumble, but my insides are doing a happy dance.
Felix reaches out and pulls me onto his lap. “Good, we’ve reached another milestone in this relationship.” He pulls my lips to his and kisses me slowly, I can taste the sweet wine on his tongue.
“Wait, I bought something for you today. I was going to give it to you at the end of the trip but I kind of think now is the perfect time,” I tell him, getting off his lap.
“You bought me something?” He smiles.
“Yeah, let me go grab it,” I say, placing my wine on the table and rushing into the bedroom, picking up one of the designer shopping bags. I’m giddy with excitement as I rush back to him with the bag hidden behind my back. “You might think it’s too much, but please take it. I owe you so much more than this present for everything you have done for me. I know I’m a lot of work and you didn’t have to sign up to help me, but I just need you to know how much I appreciate you.” I pull out the shopping bag from behind my back and hand it to him. His eyes widen as he takes in the bag. “Please, don’t fight me on it. I just …”
“Harper, this is …” He stares at the bag.
“Open it,” I push him.
He pulls out the green box, and I can see his brows pulled together, he then opens the box and gasps at what’s inside. “Harper.”
“I know. Okay. It’s a lot but I just … buying presents for people makes me happy. You said this was one of your dream watches, and I just had to buy it for you. I’m not good with my words expressing things, so I kind of do it via presents.”
“Harper, this watch is like fifty grand. I don’t think I deserve this,” he says, staring at me.
“I do,” I answer, swallowing hard.
Those hazel eyes look up at me and a moment passes between us. “Come here,” he commands, placing the watch on the table beside him. He reaches out and pulls me back into his lap as I straddle him. “Thank you. I don’t know what I did to deserve you in my life, but I am thankful for you every single day.” That is the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me. “You make me happy, Harper.”
Oh. “I do?”
“Yes. I don’t know where I would be if I hadn’t met you on the boat that day. I sure as hell know I wouldn’t be feeling the way I am now. I’d probably still be wallowing in self-pity. You saved me.”
“You saved me, too.” I run my fingers across his jaw, feeling the stubble against my fingertips.
“The universe had plans and it was for us to meet that day.” He chuckles.
“The universe is kind of kinky,” I tease.
“She is.” He smirks. “I’ll never forget seeing you for the first time, fuck, you blew me away. I thought there was no way in hell a woman like you would go for a guy like me.”
“What, an older woman?” I ask.
He shakes his head. “Honestly, I thought you were around my age.” Aw, that’s sweet. “No. Someone as sophisticated and as beautiful as you. You were so out of my league.”
“Really. You thought that?” I ask, surprised.
“I had a crush on you instantly. Still do,” he confesses.Aw, this man.He is single-handedly breaking down the stupid walls I’ve constructed around my heart.
“Felix.”
He shakes his head. “There’s nothing you can say that is going to change my mind. I like you, Harper. Like really like you and it’s okay if you don’t like me back like that.”
“I just agreed to be your girlfriend, I like you, Felix.” I smirk.
“You like my dick.” He grins.
“That I do, very much so. But I also like hanging out with you. I don’t normally like people in my personal space, but my space doesn’t feel right when you’re not there in it now.”
Felix seems surprised by my admission. “So, you like me then, more than a fake decoy boyfriend?” he asks, wrapping his arms around me.
