Story: Love on Ice
“That means we can do more of that?”
“Yes, I sure as hell hope so.” She grins.
“And what about dates? You still owe me that axe date,” I remind her.
“Sure.”
“And what about us sharing a bed at nighttime in your home?” I ask.
“How else are we going to fuck?” This is true. Harper puts her arms around my neck. “I’m sorry I’m making you second-guess everything. You can put in as little or as much effort as you want to in this relationship.”
“I’m a great dater. Romantic and everything,” I tell her.
“Really?” She doesn’t look convinced.
“Yeah. Just you wait and see.”
“I look forward to it.”
Issy: Is this all true? Or for a stunt.
Issy sendsa screenshot of my social media posts of our trip on the island. Pictures of Harper in a bikini on a paddleboard, us riding jet skis, the girls dancing to the local band, and photos of our food and drinks. More stuff than I’ve ever shared before which strangely people are liking.
Felix: It’s true. Don’t be weird.
Issy: Don’t be weird? She’s one of my closest friends.
Felix: If her brother doesn’t have a problem with it, you shouldn’t either.
Issy: How did this happen?
Felix: I had a crush on her the entire time we were on the other island.
Issy: You said nothing happened.
Felix: Like I said, I had a crush on her. Then we got back and all that stuff with her ex happened. I felt so protective over her, and then I kind of confessed my feelings and she felt the same way too.
Issy: She did?
Felix: Maybe not as much as me.
Issy: Isn’t it too soon for both of you?
Felix: Yes and no.
Felix: But I’m willing to take a chance.
Felix: Oh, and I’m moving in with her just for the summer when I get back to New York.
Issy: Felix!
Felix: Issy!
Issy: This isn’t funny. That’s too fast.
Felix: It’s only for the summer. I’ll still be looking for a place.
Felix: Don’t tell her I told you this, but she doesn’t feel safe.
“Yes, I sure as hell hope so.” She grins.
