Story: Love on Ice
“Shaken. Is there something we can do to make sure he never comes back?” I ask her.
Issy shakes her head. “Other than being creepy, I don’t think he’s committed a crime.”
“Not yet. He’s deranged. I think he is going to try to blackmail her.”
“I’ll check in on her. Glad you were there to protect her. Thanks.”
“I’m glad I was, too.” But I hate that worry is gnawing away at me.
“Felix,” Issy calls my name pulling me from my thoughts, “I promise nothing is going to happen to her. She has a tight circle around her, as well as good security. Josh won’t get near her.” She tries to reassure me.
I don’t know, she didn’t see the crazed look in his eyes. I don’t trust that man for one moment. “I’m exhausted. I might head to my room,” I tell her.
“Of course. I’ll see you tomorrow. It’s good to have you home.”
I head into my room, pull out my phone, and send Harper a quick message. I just need to know she is okay.
Felix: I’m home now. Told Issy what happened, expect a call. Hope you’re okay.
Harper: Just had a missed call from her.
Harper: Please don’t worry about me, Felix. I’m not your problem.
Felix: You were never a problem.
Felix: You’re a friend.
Harper: I’m fine. Just had a shot of tequila. It made everything feel better.
Felix: I’m worried about him threatening you. What does he have on you?
There’s a long pause. Then the bubbles start bouncing on my screen.
Harper: Nudes.
Fuck!
Felix: You think he’s going to use that against you?
Harper: Maybe. I don’t know. But I have a friend working on getting them back.
Felix: They can do that?
Harper: Yeah.
Felix: Pretty powerful friend.
Harper: He is.
Felix: I’m still worried about you. What happens if he comes back and I’m not there to stop him?
Harper: I will handle him.
Harper: He’s not the first ex to threaten me.
Felix: Harper!
Harper: Fine. I have a friend who owns a security company. I’ll message him about upping my security.
