Story: Conceal (Eagle Tactical 3)
Chapter Twenty-Two
Harper
“I’m sorry,” I apologized again. “I didn’t see you stopped. We can just exchange insurance and be on our way.”
I stepped closer, getting a better look at the two young women who I’d rear-ended. “You’re the girl from the film set. The one that was taken.”
I would never forget that moment.
It was forever ingrained in my mind.
The brunette exhaled a heavy sigh. “I should probably thank you for trying to stop Ben.”
I hadn’t succeeded, but at least she was alive. “I’m glad you’re okay,” I said.
She was all right, wasn’t she?
She had a bandage on her cheek but otherwise looked all right.
A pickup truck slowed and pulled over behind us.
The two girls didn’t look flustered, just angry. Was it because I hit their car? It was an accident. “Again, I’m sorry. I’ll pay for the damage.”
“Is everyone okay?” a gruff voice asked, his window rolled down.
“We’re fine, Mason,” Ariella said. “I can’t believe you’re following us!”
I reached into my pocket for my phone.
Did I need to call for help? Would Lincoln come if I called him?
“How about I give Hazel, Ariella, and you a lift? I can drop the girls off at the spa and drive you wherever you need to go.” Mason said. “Pull your car over to the side of the road, and I’ll give Declan’s shop a call to get the cars towed and repaired.”
Mine was a rental. “That isn’t necessary.” I didn’t know this guy. The two girls did, but I wasn’t climbing into his truck.
“Fine,” Ariella grumbled. She moved her car and tossed Mason her car keys. The back of her vehicle had buckled from impact and taken the brunt of the damage compared to my rental.
“Are you sure it’s safe?” I asked, whispering my question to Ariella.
She was one of the security teams for the production set. If she trusted going with him, then it was okay.
Right?
“He’s my boyfriend,” Hazel said. “He’ll take you wherever you need to go in town.”
“You should come with us to the spa,” Ariella said.
Gosh, that sounded perfect. However, I had a production to shoot. I couldn’t bail two days in a row, even if I had been in a car accident. It didn’t help that the crash had been my fault.
“I can’t,” I said.
“How about you come by after you’re finished filming?” Ariella asked. “We have a girl’s night in tonight.”
“With wine!” Hazel added. It was clear she was excited and probably needed a break from whatever she did for a living.
Hell, I needed one too.
“You should come,” Hazel said.
