Page 24 of All of You
She pops up with a squeal and a pout. I lick my bottom lip. Suddenly the water feels as hot as the greenhouse. A horn honks, diverting my attention. Niko and Campbell skid to a stop next to my truck, both lobbing an arm in the air at me in greeting. Lyra, Hailie and Hannah are sandwiched in the backseat.
A groan slips out of me.Cock blocked.
Delia stands beside me staring at the crowd unloading from the Jeep. “Friends?” she asks.
I snort. “Unfortunately.”
She lets out a breathyhmm“What a thing to say. I mean, if I had to guess, it sounds like you’re disappointed to see them.”
I turn to face her. “Why would I be disappointed?”
She shrugs. “Maybe you were having fun without them.”
“Oh no, with you? What would give you that idea? I was trying to cool off. This wasn’t a date or anything.”
Delia huffs. “Obviously. I don’t date dicks.”
“You’re a lesbian?” I scoff. The comment makes her scowl at me.
Hailie is the first to the shoreline and the first to strip off what little sun dress she was wearing, revealing a too-small bikini. She’s pretty, but she’s also a pick-me girl. A try hard and it’s a serious turn-off. She’s also got her sights set on me. I’ve done a good job over the summer avoiding her but when school starts I won’t be so lucky.
“Langdon!” she shouts as she eases herself into the water in a way I think is meant to look seductive. Honestly, Hailie could have any guy she wanted in this town, and plenty of the guys wanted her, including Niko, which was another reason I had zero interest. Niko likes them shallow, hot and easy. Not really my style.
Campbell and Niko crash into the water, splashing the girls on their way in. Their squeals of disapproval echo off the water.
“Girlfriend?” Delia asks while she wades another few steps deeper so that her chest is submerged.
Niko and Campbell pop up a few feet from us, dumb-ass grins stretched across their faces.
“Hey,” Campbell greets. “Who’s your friend?”
“It’s Delia. I’d hardly call us friends. Also, I’m up here,” she says motioning from her chest to her face. Campbell swings his eyes to her and I have the urge to punch him in the face over the way he’s looking at her.
Thirteen
Delia
Langdon’s friends arenearlyas hot as he is. Figures. The blonde one stares at me in a way that makes my stomach crawl. Like he’s on the hunt for a warm body to inhabit.
“Delia, huh. Hi. Campbell.” He holds out his hand but I don’t take it. I just stare at it.
“I’m Niko.” I swing my head toward the other friend. His black hair wet and dripping down his very tan, very muscled chest. “You vacationing?” he asks. His eyes linger on my cleavage.
I shake my head and glance at Langdon. He’s scowling at hisfriends. It makes no sense. “Nope. Just moved here,” I say.
Niko gives me a half smile and cocks his head. “How’d you meet Lang?”
The girls have made it out to us, two of them standwith the boys staring at me and one sidles up to Langdon.
“We work together,” Langdon interjects. “Just thought I’d show her where to cool off after work. We should probably get going.” Langdon reaches his hand out as if he’s going to take my hand in his and tow me to the shoreline but the black-haired, itty-bitty bikini-clad stunner giggles and wraps her arms around Langdon’s neck. He groans and furrows his brows.
“Please don’t go. We just got here,” she says with a little pout. The way she touches Langdon looks intimate and I wonder if they’re dating or have dated in the past. If her fingers and lips know his body.
“Get off, Hailie,” Langdon grumbles. He unwinds her arms from his neck and a tiny wave of satisfaction sweeps through me.
She’s one of those girls who’s used to getting what she wants and she scowls at me quickly before pressing her side against Langdon’s.
An athletic built, pretty brunette sticks out her hand. “Hey, don’t mind these jerks, I’m Lyra. What was your name?” she asks.
