He glanced at the sling. “I need to find a place to put that up in the house.” He flushed. “Somewhere Teague—or anyone else—won’t walk in and find it.”

“Yeah, I can see how that might be awkward.” A thought occurred to me. “You okay going into an adult store with me? I mean, right on your doorstep and all.” The ranch hands might know Robert was gay, but that didn’t mean he wanted the population of Bozeman knowing it too.

He chuckled. “At the last count, there are some fifty-five thousand people living in Bozeman. They wouldn’t know who I was.”

“And like you said, Kevin did the shopping when it came to toys.”

He nodded. “It was all online as well.” Just then his phone rang, and he answered it. “Robert Thorston.” He frowned. “Now? … Why am I just hearing about this?” He sighed. “And it can’t wait? … Fine. I’ll be there.” He disconnected.

“That didn’t sound good.” What was more important, it sounded like something that was going to throw a monkey wrench into our plans.
