Page 27 of Worth the Wait
“I just want to know you more,” Callum said. And that was true, as simple and as fucked up as that. Callum just wanted to know everything he could about Jack and he had no other way of doing so without getting Jack to tell him. Sure, he knew what Jack’s face looked like before he came and the way his eyes sparkled when he told Callum ways to pleasure himself, but there was more to them than just sex by now.
Callum knew Jack’s favorites. Food. Color. Movie. Book. Musician. Artist. But he wanted to know the things that no one thought to ask. The kinds of things you discovered by being in someone’s space. The kind of things Callum wasn’t allowed to know.
“I used to smoke and I used these cinnamon toothpicks to quit. Once I bought the local bodega out of toothpicks, I had to find something else, so toothpaste it was. It’s a reminder.”
“When did you quit?”
“Two years ago.”
“That’s impressive, Daddy,” Callum praised.
“Mmmn.”
That fucking moan again. Callum wanted to know what Jack’s lips tasted like in the morning, if there was any cinnamon left over from the day before.
“What about you?”
“Me?”
“Mnhm.”
“I’d stay in bed all day if I could, especially if you were with me. My soap smells like oatmeal and my toothpaste is mint. Like normal people.”
Jack laughed. “Are you saying I’m not normal?”
“Nothing about this is normal,” Callum countered.
A small silence grew between them.
“Just do your best,” Jack said softly.
“I know.”
Just do your best. It’s what Jack always told him when he started to overthink their relationship or when he started to feel down about the distance between them. Just do your best, make do with what we have, hold tight for now, kitten.
“Tell me what your plans for the day are,” Jack said, breaking Callum’s thought process before he spiraled.
Sleep. Think of you.
Wake up. Think of you.
Beg you to let me jack off. Think of you.
Think of you.
Wait for you.
“Nothing exciting.”
“Nothing at all?” Jack pressed.
“My friend Mark came by the bar tonight because I haven’t been around to see him and his girlfriend in a while. I told him I’d call her next week, but I guess I could maybe call them later on instead.”
“That sounds good, kitten. What do you three like to do?”
“Samantha likes to go to the Getty and drink in the gardens,” Callum said with a quiet laugh. “Mark likes the art and he doesn’t drink.”
“Which do you like?”
